We have a smallholding (small farm) in Carmarthenshire, Wales, UK. We have a small flock of sheep, chickens, ducks, two friendly dogs and one cat.

Our land borders a river and so is on the slope of the river valley. It is not overlooked and is very peaceful. We have many grassland areas with some that we are developing into wildflower meadows and some areas of woodland. It's the perfect place for stargazing.

We would like to host people here who are able to help with general tasks around the holding, including coppicing, bramble clearance, ditch digging and clearing, helping with animal-related jobs when necessary, and any other tasks which arise during the everyday running of the farm. During wet weather, there are maintenance tasks around the house. We would welcome anyone also who has specific skills, such as carpentry, plumbing or building. We work from home and so are around and about but we would like our Helpx guests to work with the minimum of supervision.

There would be up to 4 hours per day work time.

The accommodation comprises a double bedroom and own use of a bathroom. We have a large kitchen and living room that you can use during your stay too. We have one shared TV, and WiFi.

We can also accommodate motorhomes if you prefer to bring your own accommodation along with you. We have a chemical waste disposal point and could provide electricity for battery charging (no permanent hook-ups).

We will provide a help yourself breakfast and lunch and a shared supper. (If you have very specific food allergies we may ask that you prepare your own food as we have no experience in dealing with this.)

It is important to note that we are not close to any amenities and so your own car is essential if you want to get out and about. The nearest shops, post office, pub and restaurant are in Llandeilo, 6 miles away and there is only one bus per week from our village. We are 1 mile from the centre of the village.

We would be happy to take you into town when we do our shopping or chores.

We are about 50 minutes by car to the Gower coast to the south and the Ceredigion coastline to the west. Access to the M4 is 30 minutes by car and it takes approximately 1 hour 45 - 2 hours to reach the Severn crossing.

We would ideally like for people to commit to a minimum stay of five working days and please get in touch if you have any questions about a possible stay with us.
