We are a family of three with a 5 year old girl and are vegetarians (not vegan). We try to lead a reasonably healthy existence - we maintain a chemical free home as far as possible and this extends to the use of personal "care" products, cleaning products and food. We ensure the food we eat is at least spray-free, preferably organic, we don`t use a microwave oven and mostly use whole foods and only small amounts of refined foods. This is a no smoking property.

Sophia, an acupuncturist, works in town from Tuesday - Saturday as well as practising acupuncture from home while David mostly works on the property.

This property grows macadamias and olives along with various fruit trees for home use. In autumn of 2018 a lot more banana plants will be planted as a group of us plan on starting a banana industry in NZ. There is a vegetable garden as well as 8 chickens. There are 3 mobile lawnmowers on the property (sheep).

Tasks include, but is not limited to, weeding and helping in the vege gardens, pruning timber trees, collecting and/or processing macadamias in season, cutting firewood, weeding, painting, making paths/steps. In April and May olive harvesting occurs, olives are pressed for oil and from May to October macadamias are harvested. From June the nuts are sold at the local growers market.

The property is near the Taiharuru Estuary and is 4 km from the coastal settlement of Pataua South.

We like helpers who are able to assist in the kitchen and around the house.

We prefer to have people over the age of 24 and especially welcome older travellers.

So, after all of that, if you would like to join us please send us a message and include how long you think you would like to stay as well as advising us of any dietary requirements that you have so that we can plan for that. We can pick you up from town if you don`t have your own transport.
