Our home is a historic watermill which nowadays offers accommodation, good food and a range of rooms for groups. The mill is situated in a beautiful area about 2 hours drive from Hamburg, Bremen, Hannover and Magdeburg. Our nextdoor neighbours are half a mile away...

Our mill is open for all kinds of workshops, but we also organize a number of workshops, mostly dancing and music.

Our animals are very important for us, 2 wild boars, cats, ducks, chickens and horses, though unfortunately we can't offer horseriding because they're all elderly...

Other jobs include gardening, general handyman-maintenance of the house and grounds, and repairing bicycles and/or furniture. We may also ask you to help feed and muck stables for our different kinds of animals (including wild boar, ponies, chickens, ducks and cats). In the busy summer months we often need help in the kitchen with dishwashing following main meals, restocking crates of drinks for the guests (several times a day), and occasionally also with cleaning the rooms.

If your German is already very good/fluent, we may also occasionally ask for assistance with office duties, such as answering the phone or acting as a contact person for the guests.

Please note that, due to the nature of our business, working hours will be flexible and will change according to which group is in the house at any given time.

We like to help our volunteers with learning German! We are situated in a very rural area, so you can spend your free time cycling (you can try one of our recumbent bikes) and/or walking one of the many nature trails surrounding our land. You can also join in our weekly Scottish country dance evenings or some of the courses taking place in the mill, enjoy our sauna with the mill pond to dip in, or join us on an excursion to local points of interests.
