Welcome to Rotorua, a fabulous tourist mecca famous for Maori cultural experiences, geothermal activity, spas, hot pools, nature parks, biking and outdoor adventures.

On offer is a private self-contained sleepout with a really comfortable, firm king-size bed, a sofa bed, unlimited high-speed wifi, a basic kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and a few appliances, and a small ensuite with toilet, handbasin and shower. There is secure off-street parking inside the gate right by the sleepout plus an exterior powerpoint for vans.

**PRIORITIES NOW are for someone adept using an overlocker, someone with DIY woodworking or basic carpentry skills for some pallet projects, or an experienced painter.**

This modest cabin is available in exchange for an equally modest amount of your time housekeeping, lawn mowing, weeding, cleaning, various repairs or maintenance... tasks that suit the weather and suit your abilities. Flexible start and finish times, 2 hours per person per night. You`re welcome to schedule your hours so as to have full days entirely free to enjoy being a tourist and explore.

We have a long list of improvements to restore the property to a pristine state. We also welcome your suggestions based on your own talents and experience. Unless you have skills of exceptional value - eg builder, plasterer, painter, electrician, carpenter etc - the usual maximum stay here is ONE WEEK.

NO MEALS PROVIDED. HelpXers are responsible for their own personal supplies and meals. Immaculately clean bedding and towels are provided and a lovely large supermarket is just a few minutes' walk away.

The washing machine or stove in the main house are available by prior arrangement. There is minimal 'stuff' in the sleepout to maximise your space there but just ask if you need anything - we'll gladly make what we have available to you.

Our suburb is Fairy Springs. As well as the supermarket, there are several takeaway food outlets and suburban bus stops on Fairy Springs Road (SH5) nearby. The Skyline Luge Gondola is visible from our driveway.

If it is essential for you to share meals and spend a lot of your free time with a chatty host family in an upmarket situation, this is NOT the place for you. It is ideal for wwoofers wanting an easy suburban break and for self-reliant, self-catering HelpXers wanting comfort, a good night's sleep and privacy.

We go out of our way to give guests that privacy while being available to offer suggestions based on our local knowledge. We're also well-travelled internationally so know exactly how it is to be in a foreign environment.

Please note this cabin is listed on 2 other sites and we receive multiple enquiries daily. If you do not confirm arrangements ASAP after we respond to your initial enquiry, our response will be out of date very quickly. Many HelpXers do not reply promptly - or do not reply at all - hopefully because they're out and about having fun :) It was taking a lot of our time chasing people for confirmations or providing individual updates so we no longer do that.
