We welcome you to join our family of students and teachers living at a Buddhist School/Monastery in a national park. We are located just 10 ten km from Kathmandu in a very peaceful forest with no traffic sounds, just birds chirping! We have 28 kids between the ages of 7 and 18 years old, all of whom live and study here. With the intention to help underprivileged children and to provide modern and Buddhist education, we serve kids from very poor areas, some without parents, and/or families struggling to survive so the school is a special place for them because it provides them with a family and an opportunity for a better future. Our students are very loving and kind to volunteers so you will very quickly be absorbed into our big family!

We do not have any external financial support which we need to feed the kids and pay for teachers, so we must get creative in order to sustain our special school. The biggest help would be through teaching the kids but contributions in any of these areas will be helpful...

-Teaching - English, Science, Math, and/or Arts (No experience needed, only to be excited about teaching and to enjoy being around kids!)
-Farming - We want to plant some food and vegetables in the fields next to our school so we can save money and give our students better nutrition.
-Marketing/Business - We would like to show the world just how special this place is to help with getting future volunteers and financial support. Any experience with photography, film, marketing, websites, or fundraising would be helpful.
-Special Skills - We welcome all skills so please share a part of you with us. Volunteers have helped in many different ways in the past so there are no limitations to the impact you can have!

We have a lot to offer volunteers including: Loving kids, a majestic mountain in our backyard, rich Nepali and Buddhist culture, private rooms with views of a jungle and stream, futbol games, hiking to a nearby waterfall, dogs and cats, unlimited water and tea, 3 Nepali meals/day, and wifi. There is also the opportunity to join our prayer and workout classes if you wish. We are extremely sorry to have to ask our volunteers to pay during their stay here but at the moment we cannot afford to pay for your food or stay. We hope to change this in the future when we are more financially stable so everyone can come and stay for free. You are sure to see that your money goes directly to your food and the kids. We ask for $200 for the first month($50/week),and $150/month for two months, etc. The longer you will stay with us the lower price you will pay. Again, sorry for asking to pay but it is out of necessity.

Any help you bring whether teaching, special skills, or just a loving friend to the students will serve to make this School a better place. We also hope to have a positive influence on you!

How to get here:
The cheapest way is to take a bus to Sundarijal and walk 15 minutes to us. We can meet you at the bus so you don't get lost. They leave from multiple locations including Ratna Park Bus Station in Kathmandu. It should cost around 50 rupees. Alternatively, you could take a taxi but it will be much more expensive.

If you have any questions please message me or check out our website. Thank you for your interest and we hope to see you soon!

Please watch this video about our school, you will find more info.
