This is an animal welfare society based on the outskirts of the city of Nabeul, Tunisia. It has an animal shelter with dogs and cats.
We need volunteers to help with the daily tasks at the shelter.
The shelter includes spaces for dogs and separate spaces for cats. The daily routine for which we need help is dry petfood distribution, cleaning the cat's space and changing litter, cleaning the outer spaces of the dogs; taking a dog one at a time for a walk; and (rarely) helping with the maintenance of the doors and fences between the spaces for dogs (securing, reparing). Helping and sharing in the monthly fundraising events we organize.
I am a veterinarian and I created this animal welfare society 10 years ago; it was my dream and it is a miracle that it is still existing; it is hard to rely on employees especially in Tunisia where, in the popular culture, animals are not very much liked!
We are not based in the capital city of Tunis, so people tend to find it hard to pay visits to the shelter and help. They prefer to come when we organize fundraising social event (at a restaurant or at the shelter).
I live with my husband and two young twin sons who have been raised living daily with animals and they are very fond of them. It is for them an unusual childhood compared to other Tunisian children, but they have learnt empathy, love of animals and enjoy their life!
