we Have a small group here at the moment itís pretty nice

We are looking for volunteer to help us as soon as possible.

Our work is towards becoming a sustainable project funded by opening our fields to campers during the Summer season. We grow our own vegetables which we share with campers and volunteers. Our animals are mostly rescue, and our land is now almost organic. We practice recycling.

We have a variety of jobs at Cerenety, and previous skills and experience are not necessary, however if any one has any experience with horses, gardening, building, plumbing or electrics, then they are always valuable at Cerenety.

We are also looking for someone throughout the summer who can help us with some admin. If anyone is interested in helping with answering emails and taking campsite bookings, that would be wonderful. We do a lot ourselves, but it would be great to have some help.

We are located 10 minutes walk from the beautiful beaches of North Cornwall and only 10 minutes walk from the seaside town of Bude. We are an eco camp site and small holding. We have rescue horses and ponies, tame sheep and lambs, goats, alpacas, rabbits and chickens. We have a barn area where our volunteers regularly hae BBQ s and drinks and a picnic area by our large wildlife pond.

FACE BOOK: For more information and photos on our site and our volunteers visit our face book page or website volunteers page, links shown above.

WINTER accommodation for volunteers is still in the stable, but we have erected a new wood chalet for volunteers to relax and sit/eat. We supply breakfast and dinner in the winter.

SPRING/SUMMER accommodation is camping in tents with one meal a day provided. In addition to the skilled help we also need responsible young people to assist with general duties such as assisting with animal care, keeping the camp site clean, lighting/cooking/serving the BBQ, Recycling rubbish from campers.
The summer is very popular with volunteers and suggest you apply early if you think you'd like to join us.
BRING with you a small tent, sleeping bag, good but old working clothes, torch and enthusiasm.

There are 3 main areas of work at Cerenety, the animals, the garden and the campsite. Usually everyone will have a chance to work on all three, as a create a weekly rota so that the work is interesting and varied. However if anyone is particularly skilled at looking after HORSES AND OTHER ANIMALS, GARDENING OR CLEANING, and feels like they would like to concentrate on these skills whilst at Cerenety please let us know as we would be interested in having someone take a lead role in these areas.

THE CAMPSITE: The camping season starts early about March/April, so we need volunteers to help us get ready for opening. General maintenance, cleaning, painting, gardening and generally just getting everything shipshape. Once open, we need to keep everything clean and tidy, run a small pancake cafe, be great at customer service, take around treats to our campers and generally be very jolly! Experience with children is always handy in the summer.

The most important thing is the care and attention that is given to the animals. Nothing need be rushed, but instead done properly. Every morning we feed up everything, make sure there is nothing lame or sick, muck out etc. A similar routine is done in the evening.

Depending on the time of year, there may be lots of sewing, lots of planing, lots of harvesting, but there will almost always be lots of weeding. I love the garden, but not everyone does, so it's up to you how involved you get with our organic vegetable patch and permaculture forest garden.

Depending on time of year, you may be doing some or all of the following work:

-Horse grooming
-Mucking out stables
-Feeding all animals
-Animal movement
-Helping medicate animals (when necessary)
-Tidying fields
-Pond maintenance
-help running camp site
-General Labour
-car maintenance
-mixing concrete
-dry stone walling
-building compost toilets
-digging ditches
-building sheds etc.

Experience is not always necessary. We ask for reasonably fit individuals who enjoy their work and are kind to animals.

We ask you to work about 4 to 5 hours a day.

We prefer people to stay for a minimum of 4 weeks preferably longer but will consider shorter stays.

Accommodation - You will have barn accommodation in winter, which comprises bunk beds and you will be either in here or camping on our small camp site in summer.

FOOD - In the winter we supply 2 meals a day. From March onwards through the summer we are extremely busy so supply only one meal a day, usually dinner. We try hard to cook our own veg and forage for wild herbs. And everyone is welcome to help themselves to vegetables and salad from the garden for breakfast and lunch.

Activities here - Our volunteers often make use of our BBQ either in the yard area (on rainy days) or by the wildlife pond (on sunny evenings). We also have a 2 person kayak we are happy to lend. The canal is only a 5 minute walk away and sea kayaking is also a lot of fun. We sometimes have bicycles to lend out to use on near by cycle paths. Occasionally, we organize volunteer games such as cricket or rounders and some camping trips around the area.

Activities in the area - Bude is fantastic for a range of activities. We have a good relationship with local business and can offer our volunteers discounts at local surf schools are coasteering companies. There are also local activities such as horse riding, rock climbing, kayaking, abseiling, golf and some festivals.
