We are a family with three young children that is in the process of establishing an organic mixed farm on land directly opposite Slane Castle. The castle and its lands has been in our family since 1703 and is world renowned for it's annual outdoor rock concerts which feature Bon Jovi and Eminem in 2013.

We are now looking to build a series of buildings out straw bales and timber with the straw that comes from the barley fields on the farm. This includes our new farmhouse, an office and the 'Limehouse' which is a communal building that will serve our luxury eco-camp on the farm that includes canvas yurts. We also have a working farm which includes rare breed cattle, pigs, chickens, dogs and veggies.

The main focus on the farm at the moment is building the straw bale buildings where you will get the chance to learn how to build with this amazing natural material. Once the straw walls are built then we apply clay and lime renders, also local, natural materials that are fun to work with. For anyone thinking of building their own house, staying with us will open your eyes to a new way to build.

We are fun loving people and need some enthusiastic like-minded individuals who don't mind physical but enjoyable work to come and help us realise our vision. Other duties offsite may be required such as food prep/cooking or childcare. Please come and join us if this sounds like it's for you.

Accommodation is staying on the farm in our lovely bell tents with a communal hang out area and good, hot showers. The farm and Slane Castle estate is located in the beautiful Boyne Valley which offers great walks and scenery and is next to the village of Slane which has pubs and shops. Slane is one hour by direct bus from Dublin and is only 45 minutes from Dublin airport.

You would be required to make your own breakfast and meal in the evening (BBQ's are a favourite). All food for the stay is provided by us and you will get the chance to work and live with other volunteers.

We will require you to take out volunteer's insurance. For example, OV Europe offer such insurance. If you require further information on, let us know.

Look forward to hearing from you, Cheers for now..
