We are on a 65 acre farm in North Pope County, Illinois and are virtually surrounded by the Shawnee National Forest. Having been on this farm for five years, we are still developing infrastructure and are continuing to plant in the orchard and various berries as well as establishing and expanding garden and crop areas.

We are a GMO, herbicide and pesticide free farm in all of our outdoor areas. As we are far away from "modern agricultural" property, we feel that we should have no problems with cross pollination of our crops with GMO's or damage/exposure from/to ag chemicals.

There are many projects currently in process or in the planning stages. This summer/fall we hope to get new water and electric lines ran to all the barns and the greenhouse as well as get a fiber studio framed in and get the finishing touches on the greenhouses.

Tasks on the farm are endless, so there are always things to do year round. Clearing brush, cutting wood, building fence, baling hay, sawing lumber, making maple syrup, food preservation, commercial greenhouse tasks, working with honey bees, planting gardens as well as caring for animals. Animals on the farm include 15 Suri Alpacas, 9 horses of various breeds, a milk cow, a steer, 2 standard donkeys, a pot bellied pig, a miniature pig, assorted ducks, chickens, dogs and cats. Sheep and goats are definite future projects.

Jamie does spinning, weaving, felting and many other things with Alpaca fiber and sells her products at farmer's markets, festivals and online.

We are in our 50's and both grew up on farms, so we have a good bit of knowledge to pass along as we continue to learn every day also. We expect anyone coming to our farm to work with us and learn from us and for there to be mutual respect at all times. Children and pets can be discussed and may be possible in some instances.

Fishing and swimming at the two ponds on the farm and hiking the trails in the National Forest surrounding the farm are great recreational activities. Since we are located in the Shawnee National Forest and tourism is a major driver of the local economy there are many places of interest to visit. So go hiking, rock climbing, trail riding, check out some waterfalls, tour the Southern Illinois wine trail or Ohio River activities.

We are located 25 miles north of Paducah, Kentucky, which provides a lot of larger town (McCracken County population is approx. 60,000) amenities and activities.

We are always available to discuss a possible visit to our farm. Give us a call and let's see where it goes!
