We, two open minded Dutch, own a beautiful small valley just outside Cerdeira, a small village in the Portuguese Serra do Açor mountains
Secluded and peaceful, with no neighbours and views on a village below in the middle of forests with crystal clear streams and clean air
We are setting up an eco resort were people can escape busy western lifestyle to live and work with us for a short or long period
We are part of an international community that strive to live ecological self sufficient and off grid with water, power, building materials and organic food from our own land
There are lots of opportunities to participate in workshops or learn about organic gardening & permaculture, ecological building, medicinal plants, soap making etc.
There's stunning wildlife and UNESCO Heritage slate villages to visit
In your time-off you can hike in the mountains around, swim in one of the rivers that have waterfalls and pools or have an affordable drink & snack in the village café (with wi-fi,small supermarket, TV) or nearby town Côja, that has a bank with ATM, supermarkets, shops, saturday market, pharmacy etc. or visit a nearby picturesque village
Coïmbra is 70km away, Porto and Lisbon and the coast with great beaches and lovely places to visit in 2-2 1/2 hours by bus and or train

Unfortunately we were struck by the wildfires of october 2017 and lost a lot of trees, our slate house with outbuildings and almost all of our machines and tools
We now live in the communal building in the bottom of the valley that stayed untouched
There we have a shared bathroom with hot shower, a fully equiped outside kitchen, a living room with woodburner and a guestroom
There's an outside sitting area with fireplace
We mostly enjoy our evenings with a campfire, good conversations and music making
There are allso lots of markets with delicious homemade food, produce from the land and handicrafts
In the summertime there are lots of parties and festivals to visit

Volunteers can stay in a spacious bedded tipi tent for two in summer and in the guestroom in the colder months

We need help with cutting burned trees, make firewood and building simple structures from the wood, maintenance of the organic vegetable garden and the land sowing/planting of crops in spring and summer, harvesting and preserving produceren andere preparing vegetarian/vegan meals
We would love to invite people that are really motivated to help us and like to learn about ecological and healthy lifestyle
Some experience would be great but isn't necessary

Preferred stay is a couple of weeks and at least one full week
We expect you to work 4-5 hours for 5 days a week but are flexible, especially with hot or cold/wet weather conditions

Pick up/drop off at Rede Expressos busstation Catraïa de Moronho ( from/to Porto, Lisboa and Gouveia) can be arranged against gas compensation
We drive to town on a regular basis for shopping or a drink
Local transport is very limited
One bus goes out in the morning and returns in late afternoon
Hitch hiking is possible and safe

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions :)
