We have a village house in the Eastern Pyrenees, 30km from Perpignan just off the N116,with a small olive plantation of 60 trees on 1/3 hectare. I have excavated a 12m x 8m hole in order to create a pond on it. The bottom of the pond will be lined with ready mix concrete and the walls will be made of small rocks and big pebbles taken from the stream which runs at the bottom of the land and also from the surface of the land itself.

So, I am offering bed and board for 2 helpers this summer 2011 to help me gather these stones, i.e. load them into the back of my Renault Espace which I drive over the land and unload them near the site of the future pond. The helpers would work for 2 hrs a day in the morning and I estimate that this job would take about 4/5 days max. Then if they wanted, they could stay on to help with the concreting or alternatively to weed the olives and cut the grass down by the stream, cut wood etc...

The region is spectacular, and the village of Rodès looks out onto the Mount Canigou (2730m). Not far away are hot springs, canyoning, rafting and pony trekking. The Mediterranean is half an hour away by car and Spain an hour away (Figueras with the Dali museum, Barcelona etc..). Even without a car though you could take the local municipal buses and travel all over the Département for 1 euro per ride. All in all it's a very rich and stimulating place to be.

OK, I shall soon be uploading some photos and will be happy to answer any of your questions.
