Akasha is a peaceful place to ‘be’, get inspired and reconnect with yourself and nature. Our community and activities offer the opportunity to deepen your practice and knowledge in the holistic field of meditation, yoga, soundhealing, shamanism and more. Welcome in our ‘school of life’.
What does volunteering in Akasha Retreat Center imply?
We are all working and serving in the spirit of karma yoga. Karma yoga we could translate as ‘love and awareness in action’. The key elements to karma yoga are to find happiness by serving others, to find freedom and to let go of anxiety by surrendering the fruits/results of our actions and to cultivate awareness while working. All this is done while remaining effective and focused in our work. To really live from this inner stillness and peace while working, we highly recommend all volunteers to join us regularly for meditation, yoga and/or soundhealing work. Karma yoga invites us to make our entire life and all our actions a spiritual act of serving, loving and remembering our true nature.
What is the volunteer commitment?
We are a small retreat center with only space for maximum 6 ‘staff members’ at a time. The minimum stay for volunteering is 2 months. In this way we can have a more stable community feeling and this also allows the center to function more smoothly and effectively. You will be working an average of 5 hours/day and will get every week 2 days off. We are looking for motivated people with a flexible attitude, clear commitment and spiritual aspiration to deepen in meditation, yoga and/or soundhealing.
What does the work include as a volunteer?
Depending on both our necessities and your interests and talents, you can work in specific fields, though we ask for a flexible attitude, serving where needed.
These jobs include:
-Cleaning and housekeeping
-Teaching yoga (if you have the skill and education) or other related workshops
-Picking up/dropping off guests from nearby train station
What do we offer?
A peaceful and natural environment to reconnect with yourself
A sangha (=spiritual community to inspire and lift each other up)
All meals and accommodation. Accomodation is shared. When you are a couple we will try to accommodate you in a private room. Food will mainly be organic and purely vegan or vegetarian.
Daily meditation, yoga, soundhealing sessions and/or evening workshops. Some specific workshops may be closed to students only.
Opportunity to deepen your yoga/meditation/soundhealing practice
