Welcome to my profile, I am Noel.
I'm an owner of Sri Lankas No; 1 safari and ecotourism company, specifically at the National Parks Wilpattu and Yala. And our base at Ahangama.
I and my team is passionate about nature and wild life, quality of service, active in our community and engage to support sustainability, local culture, customs and nature preservation.
On TripAdvisor the company is ranked Number 1 with 5 stars for the past 6 years in both our camps.
I am looking for handy and creative volunteers to help with various projects in the campsites near the national parks or the office in surfers paradise - Ahangama.

The main current projects:
- building projects with bamboos (to make bamboo shower walls);
- cleaning and preparing the tens for our guests;
- help to construct our new tent;
- to fix daily plumbing and electrical issues;
- to train dogs at our office in Ahangama;
- to build a kennel in Ahangama;
- general land maintenance, path building and clearing, gardening, landscaping.

Weíre looking for smart people who would like to volunteer for at least 2 to 4 weeks. We need people with heart and spirit, nature lovers who have COMMON SENSE. We are happy to invite volunteers with fresh and modern ideas, organized and active to situations where their help is needed. Active and proactive people with knowledge of computation, customer service and who can interact with highest standards clients at our camps.

We are looking for people who has special skills like carpentry, plumbing, electricians, wood work, building, landscaping and gardening, who has experience with recycling and upcycling projects (work with pallets, old glass bottles and other materials).

Please note we do not work with animals and we do not make a contact with them.

Please be aware that our campsites are strictly NON-SMOKING, and we are not doing any exceptions !!!

Please read the conditions carefully before applying to join our team.

ACCOMMODATION: You will be placed in one of our campsites near Willpatu or Yala National Parks, or sometimes in Ahangama office, it will depend on your skills, task and on operational reasons.
The campsites are closer to nature and all local cuisine meals at our camps .. We provide accommodation in our staff house. We will provide you basic accommodation at the camp together with other volunteers, if will be some that time. Your accommodation will be in a double floor clay house in the terrace with semi covered walls. You will be provided with fresh bed sheets and a mosquito net. A bathroom area is shared with other volunteers who are staying that time. WIFI is eligible only in the lounge area while itís not occupied by the campís guests.
And if you will be placed at office/house in Ahangama, you will be given accommodation and lunch. Here you will be part of our team and family.

Environment in which to perform your role. All the work you will be doing will be outside or in a semi open space in the campís territory. The camp is near the national park, so everything what we do there should minimally affect the nature and the animals there. You will live close to the national park, so please be aware of some animals, reptiles or insects coming to the camp or to your accommodation. We donít advice you to walk alone in the dark cause of the animals or just not to get lost (what is pretty easy).

MEALS: We will provide you 3 meals per day at the campís kitchen. We are not cooking by special volunteerís requests (allergies, vegetarian/vegan food), you will be provided with food the same like for rest of the campís staff. Every dish is served separately, so you can take what you want. Usually we provide traditional Sri Lankan simple meals which consist of rice, fish/chicken/vegetables curry and other cooked vegetables. Cooking by your own is allowed in the campís kitchen only when the chef is not busy preparing food for the guests, also you can use a fridge for your own responsibility.

SAFARIS: After 5 days of volunteering, you will be eligible to join safari together with the guests after your supervisorís confirmation. The safaris service will be provided free of charge, but you will have to pay an entrance fee to the park (around Rs 5000 or its equivalent in USD or Eur) before the safari to the safari guide.

FREE TIME: Some volunteers are saying that they feel bored in the evenings after work, cause nothing what to do there in the jungle, take a book or prepare before some movies :) (WIFI is limited 1 Hr per day, not for downloading, only for browsing). You also can ask the local staff to teach you Sinhala in exchange to English. Itís just an idea for your evening activities.
!!! Alcohol is not served and can't buy it at the camp. You can bring your alcohol, but please don't offer it to our staff. Can drink it discretely which would not effect our and your work.
Sri Lanka is a country for tourism, so in your time off you can travel around the island, to the beaches, temples or parks.

Come, have fun and enjoy 'ONE LIFE LIVE IT'
