***Make friends on the most beautiful Island of Japan***

I am inspired by a previous HelpX project I volunteered at for a while: it was an English conversational school in Mie Prefecture, where foreigners were offered a room and in exchange they had to speak with Japanese students for around 3 hours a day on 5 days per week in English about any topics they like. It was not about teaching, but making the students confident with speaking and listening.
But the main reason students were coming was to learn about new cultures and make friends from all over the world. So it's not just this one hour talking, but they are also happy to hang out after the lessons with you and guide you around their area. And as the students became friends with the foreigners, they even went to visit the volunteers in their home countries too, isn't that amazing?!

Inspired by this concept I thought why not start the same thing, but instead of going to a random city I will choose this tropical island paradise Amami Oshima!

Amami is definitely the hidden gem of Japan. There is no other place in Japan which is so incredibly beautiful and at the same time have hardly any tourists (and almost no foreigners at all) although it's very easily and cheaply accessible by plane from Osaka, Tokyo, Kaoshima and Fukuoka. There are so many things to do on this beautiful island: you can go for surfing, diving, ride a kayak through the mangroves, go hiking, do island hopping and so much more.
And the best part about Amami are the local people, who are the friendliest and most open Japanese I have met so far all over Japan.

Who am I looking for?
The only requirements are being fluent in English (you don't have to be a native speaker), have 1-3 months free time (shorter or longer stays possible) and be willing to become friends with those lovely island people.
And of course, as you will be talking a lot you should be a talkative person!

I expect you to help me for 3 hours a day on 5 days a week, mostly speaking with Japanese people in English.
As I'm just starting I can not offer you food, but only a free place to stay. If you travel around Amami and the surrounding islands, I can also introduce you to my friends, who are very welcoming and always happy to meet some new people, show them around in their area and offer them a place to stay for free
