Moonriver Lodge is a family owned farmstay located in the lush Sigar Highlands, Malaysia. We operate a self-contained bed and breakfast and operate trekking or farming activities for guests. Our accommodation is basic, clean and comfortable with lots of shared facilities such as kitchen, bathrooms and lounge areas.

During its humble beginnings, driven by a mission of sustainable living, we experimented with natural farming at the lodge. Currently, the lodge food and flower gardens are maintained using organic methods while we have opened up a sister farm called Food Forest Farm adjacent to Moonriver Lodge. The Food Forest Farm is a medium scale commercial farm producing various vegetables using organic and hydroponic methods. We do not use pesticides on our farm and lodge.

Volunteers will be expected to do a combination of lodge and farm work, depending on our priority when you are here. Lodge work includes assist lodge with guest hosting, housekeeping, cleaning and assisting in preparing meals. Volunteers have to help beautify signage and furniture around the lodge, tidying lodge and kitchen gardens. Farm work includes nursery work, collecting harvested veggie from the greenhouse, sorting and packing vegetables, planting and maintaining plants. We may also decide to assign you to a project if you have skills that are of interest to us or any ongoing projects. We look for volunteers who have hospitality experience and food & beverage experience. As we are a bed and breakfast, volunteers must maintain cleanliness around the lodge at all times for the comfort of our guests. Volunteers will stay in our staff rooms at the lodge and may occasionally be required to share rooms with volunteers of same gender if we have more than one volunteer.

Unlike other WWOOF hosts, we usually do not provide meals for volunteers. Volunteers will prepare their own meal and they can use vegetables from our farm. Volunteers will be given a small allowance to purchase other necessities such as rice, cooking oil, condiments, noodles or meat.

For information we have a different farm work and Lodge working hour. For farm work will be 0800-1200 hrs & 1400-1800 hrs. For lodge will be depending on guest itinerary. Volunteers must stay at least 10 days.

Please note that we have internet connection at the lodge and phone reception is limited to certain spots.
