We got a spacious 17 hectares isolated island in the pacific side of Panama. I'm working on turning into hub for nature lovers, artists, travelers, internationalists, anarchists, yogis, naturists and digital nomads. A place to get away and try the life that is uncontained. I've already built a mobile app for the island project and want to built a culture around it. Eventually I'd like to form self sufficient sustainable eco tech community, but for now we're building jungle tree houses near all 7 beaches of the island. The plan is to rent these cabins to fund the commune and events on the island. That way members won't have to work outside the commune, only if needed.
//CURRENT ISLAND RESIDENTS AND VOLUNTEERS:
Right now we are 3 people on the island ( Haitian Caribbean/american, Russian, French)
I'm Sebastien founder, a 34 years old Software engineer that left his job in California and went nomad for more than 4 years around the world. I've hosted many couchsurfers, nomads in California and Miami in recent years. I'm Caribbean and love the island life. I always had a dream of creating a high tech eco paradise. I've realized that i hate the 9-5 systematic job lifestyle, hence the reason for creating a space for like minded nomads.
My helpers and core members of the project are:
Anastasia: She's an architect from Moscow, that left the city life right after graduation and wanted to be closer to nature.
She enjoys photography, painting, illustration, healthy cooking, swimming. She's my right hand woman in this project and has helped since inception. A core member full of ideas for this oasis in the making.
Amandine: She's our first volunteer, a dietitian from eastern France. After her first visit she decided to be in charge of the dietary needs and will be helping with the catering team to keep us fed and healthy on the island. She's currently in France and will be back in 6 months.
Right now we got one tree house build, solar system, WIFI, cleaned some areas of the island. The place is completely off the grid. We got our own clean electricity from solar and water from rain and a small river in the middle of the island. I go buy drinking water and food every two weeks. Eventually I plan to filter our rain water and get our garden going. It's the tropics, it shouldn't be too hard to get some veggies going.
//GETTING TO THE ISLAND:
The island is only accessible by boat, 30 min is the time from the island to the nearest town ( Boca Chica). In that town you can find restaurants, a small store and the bus to the nearest big city.
We got a 26' power catamaran boat with dual suzuki 140 motors. This is a fast boat in case we need to leave the island for an emergency. We try not to use it often for environmental reasons, only for shopping and to pick up people. You can always call for a taxi boat to pick you up if you want to leave often and you got the budget for it. Otherwise, We try to coordinate our travels and go in town only when needed. Come if you're ok being isolated with few people on a remote serene island.
//LIFESTYLE ON THE ISLAND:
This is an open minded place but drug free. To keep everyone safe smoking and drinking are not acceptable on the island and no drugs.
We do have and support polyamorous, BDSMers, Kinky, LGBT people and of course naturists. Nude deep in nature is freeing! I might even do events for these lifestyles later. If you're offended when people are naked or with unconventional relationship types or feel weird around lesbians and gays then this is NOT the place for you. Most likely someone will be nude while you're here. However, to be clear this is not a nudist or sex oriented project. Rather a free expressive environment where you're encouraged to live how want in harmony with nature, without the pressure of society. So you don't have to be into any of the listed in order to come, so long you're tolerant and won't feel uncomfortable.
//DIET AND FOODS:
We mainly eat vegetarian and vegan but we're flexible with pescetarians if you will catch it and cook it.
We've just discovered a mango tree, cacao tree, and coconut tree.
We're very conscientious about food waste, so you can't take a plate a food and put it in the trash here.
You're welcome if you're not lazy and want to help co-create a beautiful oasis. There is a time to work and a time to chill in a hammock. We got a lot to do to make this an oasis. We're looking for proactive people and ideas. Most of the time work is done in groups, with more people you will be able to pick where to want to work and help out.
//ANIMALS ON THE ISLAND:
This is a tropical jungle island! we got bugs, bats, fish, a variety of birds, beautiful iguanas, bees, butterflies, lots of crabs, dolphins, spiders, whales. Most of these animals keep to themselves and are harmonious. We do have mosquitoes, but we create our own natural repellents.
Please don't come if you want the city life in the jungle. This is for nature lovers.
You can also download our app for the project, "lubinii" it works for all phones except iphone.
