Welcome to Papua New Guinea!
Our village up here in the
beautiful highlands of PNG is the home of the famous Asaro mudmen. All year around we have friends and tourists from all over the world come to see our famous mudmen and hear about their story. My name is Cody, I am a descendant of the original mudmen and currently I am trying to build a traditional village hut for our visitors to stay in and experience our village life first hand during their stay. The vision is to create a tourist hub here to show the world how wonderful and welcoming my country is.
At the moment we are looking for people to help us out with building our new hut, maybe some weeding and gardening depending on what needs to be done and in exchange for that you will get to stay in our village and learn about our life here. At the moment you will stay in a simple but comfy bedroom with a western style toilet and you would also be provided with food from our organic garden. We have tasty fresh vegetables and fruit here that we can turn into traditional meals. We have unfiltered rainwater on tap but you may want to bring purification tablets or a filter. Also be prepared and dress for a less humid tropical climate and bring insect repellent. Everything else you would need in addition to that you can get at our local market or the market in Goroka. The village is located only a half an hour bus ride away from Goroka. The bus travels from 7am to 6pm every day and the village is right next to the national highway, so we are really easy to reach and can arrange to meet you at the airport. We understand there is a certain reputation of PNG but we can promise you will see that everyone is super friendly and loves to get to know visitors.
It would be great to have your help for three to four hours a day and in your spare time we can take you around for hikes to the surrounding mountains and to our local bingo game and take you around the villages to show you how people live here. During June to September we also have our cultural shows, sing sings and festivals we can take you to.

Get in touch if you would like to help us out or if you have any more questions. All skills and experience levels are welcome here.
The whole community will be so happy to host you!
