This is a 540 acre, 3000 tree olive grove, situated 2.5 hours from Brisbane at the foothills of the Bunya Mountains. We produce both table and oil bearing olives of ten varieties. The entire production process occurs on the farm from a dedicated factory - that is, from tree to bottles and jars. A large variety of fruit and vegetables are produced organically and processed into jams and pickles in the on-farm commercial kitchen. We own the nearby Maidenwell Trading Post which is a convenience store, cafe and gift store that also serves as an outlet for our entire farm produce.

We require helpers for our April/May olive harvest. This involves hand picking table olives using a mobile net (see photo) and follow-up scavenge picking the oil bearing olives after the tree shaking harvester.

Accommodation will be in a self-contained air-conditioned cottage - Possum Hut (see photo). Meals will be shared with us at our lodgings but breakfast will be provided at Possum Hut.

We would expect 25 hours work per week made up in portions which is negotiable (eg. half days, full days, weekend off...).

If using public transport, the only service is provided by Brisbane Bus Lines ( which goes to Yarraman, the closest stop to and 20km from the farm and we can meet you there. Local public transport is non-existent but the area has many attractions (Bunya Mountains - 45 minutes, Sunshine Coast - 2 hours, Kingaroy wineries - 45 minutes) so a car would be very beneficial. If you have no transport the farm has a variety of Australian native bush (replete with wildlife, such as kangaroos) and geological features to be explored on foot (see photos). The property also has several large, clean dams suitable for swimming and canoeing.

Olive picking is a very pleasant, quiet and relaxing occupation and often provides great opportunities for in-depth discussions about literally anything!
