We are a group of 9 people who decided to move from chaotic Rome to a tiny village in the middle of Sardinia. The region where we live is called Barbagia , an island within the island, right in the middle of it. Barbagia is famous for its ancestral traditions still jealously kept by its dwellers: it is a land of shepherds and wine makers, amazing mountain and huge stones carved by the wind. Its archaeological heritage is impressive: Phoenicians and Roman ruins, Holy Wells, Giants Graves are just but a few of the must see in this region.

Our property is located in Sorgono, 50 km from Nuoro and 160 km from Cagliari. The farm expands over 26 hectares among oak and cork trees, a river marks one of the four sides of the property, while on the other side it is an archaeological site with ancient nuraghe a menhirs to border on us.

Our main activity is agricolture, 100% organic, the take care of the growth from seedbeds to harvesting. Besides agriculture we do a lot of building work like woodsheds, canopies, roof gutters, animal pens and everything needed in a farm with a house.

-Making of vegetable preserves (we already make aubergine and zucchini preserves and tomato puree)
-Cooking and house maintenance
-Gather firewood
-Care of animals (we have got 4 dogs, 5 cats and 2 donkeys)
-General maintenance

We soon plan to grow grapes for wine, olives for oil and medical plants for natural remedies and essential oils.

We would like our guests to participate in all of our activities.

We offer food and accomodation for 6 hours of work daily for 5 and half days a week and we could of course find the best deal for both of us according toyour requests, needs and interests and the season in which you are coming to visit us.
The accommodation we offer is a shared room in a comfortable house where some of us also live, located in town, 7 km away from the farm. We will of course provide the transfers.

The peculiarity of our farm is ourselves! We are 9 people with a common aim, but different experiences which formed a path that brought all of us here. The agricultural project is linked to a wider cultural project which includes arts and humanitarian aid in India and Nepal.

We plan to start hosting volunteers from June 2011, but please feel free to contact us before then. We can start knowing one another and make plans for next Summer!
