I'm starting a small agricultural enterprise. At this point I might be needing help from one or two persons for the period of 20 to 30 days in the months of October and November. The work will be partly on the field and partly back at my country house, preparing the flowers that we've picked by cleaning them and separating the part that has value. The intended culture is Saffron. No special skills required.
The house itself is old - it's built in 1956 and it's a normal Bulgarian country house. It's modest, humble and there's nothing fancy about it, but it has a good vibe nonetheless. It's a chance for a foreigner to see how our parents and grandparents lived back in the times of communism. My grandmother is still living there and she's 87 now. She's the last inhabitant of the house.
The house has a yard of around 800 sq.m. in which there's a walnut tree, some fruit trees and some plantings like tomatoes, pepper and even some backyard saffron. We prepare our own typical products like the Bulgarian liutenitsa, turshia, kompot, some jams, etc. There's wi-fi and a modern bathroom and kitchen, we're also doing some other refreshments and repairs. It's a quiet life in a small village 30 kms outside of Plovdiv - the second biggest city in Bulgaria. What's curious is that it's a Catholic community - one of the very few in Bulgaria, since the main religion here is the Orthodox Christianity. There's a daily transport to the city every two or three hours. People there don't speak languages but are very genuine and welcoming. The cost of life is cheap.
