Are you seeking somewhere to peacefully & productively shelter during COVID 19?
75-acre family property including residential rentals, agricultural land, and undeveloped forest seeks 2 helpers to assist with operations from now (June) through October 2020. One month minimum stay required.
We are located in the center of Dutchess County, NY just 2 hours north of New York City. Easy access to safe outdoor activities including hiking, swimming, canoeing and kayaking.
Please have your own car or other transportation - this is a rural area.
In addition to managing the land with small-scale, organic, holistic methods, Farm owner works as a healer and educator. Husband runs a fine carpentry business.
We are community-oriented and often have a variety of family members, neighbors, helpers, and educational groups participating in our projects -- accomplishing a lot and having fun, all while maintaining safe social distancing protocols.
Due to COVID-19, our current focus is on outdoor projects that can be accomplished safely.
Ongoing projects include:
Tending to organic flower and vegetable gardens
Managing invasive plant species
Organizing storage buildings
Building maintenance and repair
General household cooking and cleaning
Getting systems set up for future helpers - May include accommodation improvements, building tent platforms, compost toilet, outdoor shower, etc.
*A positive outlook, willingness to learn, and ability to participate in physical labor are essential.
*Experience using tools and equipment is a plus!
*Folks with strong organizational skills encouraged.
*Preference will be given to helpers with knowledge and experience in agriculture, horticulture, ecology, forestry, carpentry, etc.
