We would like to host people who are willing to help us with daily activities around our home and garden.
Working in the flower and vegetable gardens is the main activity. Other jobs around our land involve weeds and unwanted vegetation, fences need fixing or removing and some jobs need a bit of muscle and stamina and can`t be finished in a short time. Some examples of that are: wheeling heavy wheelbarrow loads of mulch, compost and firewood, in which you might meet spiders and other small creatures, most of which are harmless; digging garden beds, turning out compost bins and building new bins and heaps. And much more. We have sandy soil which is easy to dig and doesn`t turn to mud when it rains, and a country bush garden full of native birds and some animals, a joy to work in for people who love the outdoor life.

If the outdoor work doesn`t appeal and you are a capable indoor person you could do the housework needed each day to keep a household properly fed, clean and hygenic. For example: cooking all meals for 2 to 5 people, washing up, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathroom, cleaning windows; laundry and ironing; washing up. All without constant supervision by me because I will be working outdoors.

Another option is to house-sit and take care of the dog`s needs for short periods so we can take a break away together.

We are a mother (Ruth) with an adult son (Mils) and a medium sized dog named Sally, living right at the coast on 2 hectares of the Forestier Peninsula (right next door to the scenic and historic Tasman Peninsula, home of Port Arthur World Heritage Site).

We like you to work approx. 5 hours per day although some days you will work more and some less. In return for your help we will provide your meals, or sometimes food to prepare your own meal, a quiet room, usually one with outside access and a nice view. You will be welcome to come with us when we travel to the shops or the city, and we will take you to other interesting places or bush walks when the work and the weather are suitable.

We are not eligible for WHV extensions, and we only host non-smokers.

Important! Telstra is the only mobile phone company with reception in most of country Tasmania. Internet access is available by wireless broadband.

There is a once daily Monday to Saturday bus service (Tassielink) from Hobart to Eaglehawk Neck and only 1km to walk from the bus stop to our home. We can meet you at the bus stop or make other arrangements for your arrival.
