Here on the beautiful Awhitu Peninsula (98kms from Britomart Transport Centre) keen, fit, strong and practical helpers, are welcome. Singles or a couple. You do get fitter, stronger, more tanned, dirty and sweaty doing gardening and farm work.
Due to an injury the main help needed is with garden maintenance. You will need old clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and strong shoes or boots and a sun hat, even in Winter. Maybe some weed spot spraying and thistles to remove. Also, if you're able there are some farm jobs to be done, fencing - repairs and basic building repairs are also possible depending on your experience. We run our beef farm in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way. We have been awarded 4 Environmental Awards. You sleep in our Farmstay building but meals TV etc are in our house. We allow people to check their emails on our computer but we have a very small basic internet package. If you have a "Spark" account for your phone it will work well. We are a NZ couple in their 60's, non smoking, eat our home grown meat and vegetables, we can only speak English. As a "Tesol" teacher Antonia can help you improve your speaking/writing/reading of English :) It is best that you have already got your IRD number and bank accounts before you come here.
Our farm is 98kms from Auckland City CBD, 97 kms from the Airport and 40kms from Waiuku township,10kms from the West Coast Beach and the Manukau Harbour Beaches. Sadly there is NO public transport to our farm, however we can pick you up and drop you off, from or at, Waiuku (bus), Pukekohe (train) townships. The Manukau Harbour beaches are safe to swim in and the West Coast beach is good for surf-casting type fishing. There are fantastic landscapes everywhere to photograph or paint. We happily take you with us to other places when/if we are going somewhere interesting we think you may like to see.
