We are a small, Certified Organic, family farm that takes in a maximum of 3 Volunteer/Intern/Wwoofer/Worker (VW) at a time. We are alwaysnseeking another motivated person for our vegetable/garlic/egg farm to start either very soon or for a future vacancy to work mainly in the fields and seedling house, outdoors. Our vacancy would suit a single person seeking a unique learning experience on a challenging, dynamic, commercial, small scale Certified Organic family farm that supplies to local Farmer's Markets and Restaurants. The experience is similar to that of an internship hence applicant's keen to learn clean growing techniques, with an inquiring mind that are physically fit for farm work are desired. The farm was established in 2008 by Sylva and Ian an ex-CEO of his own Property Services business which he sold prior to the GFC to pursue the dream of the farm with family. Previous VW's have commented on the joy of being part of a family-farm and the varied knowledge to be gained on everything from Process Business Management techniques to propagating seed to seedlings. We produce in excess of 40 varieties of vegetables, 20 varieties of fruit, eggs, beef, over a dozen different types of herbs, seedlings and sprouts, jam production. Ian is a wealth of knowledge.
Accommodation is provided in private separate caravan with limited cooking facilities including coffee/tea making. There are separate toilet and shower facilities. You maybeasked to help with meal preparations each day, Breakfast and Lunch are provided with family, Dinner is separate. Hence compatibility with our family is very important. All applicant's start as volunteers for a maximum of 2 weeks. Good workers wishing to work longer hours can continue past the trial period and are offered payment, starting usually $300 p/wk. We often have a mix of volunteers, interns and backpackers.

A genuine interest in the production of clean food is recommended. We prefer to have applicant's who wish to work a full day and be part of our team and paid extra rather than a team of many working half days. The farm is 30 acres on the banks of the beautiful and crystal clean Oxley River. Swimming and canoeing is a must through Spring, Summer and Autumn. We are located between the Gold Coast (30 minutes and a local bus trip) and Byron Bay (45 minutes, no buses). For those seeking a 2nd year visa the farm work is paid at the award base rate. We work 6 days per week, but this is flexible many chose 5 days, Sundays off.

We have 3 children. Property animals include 2 horses, 9 cattle, 100 chickens, 2 dogs & 2 cats. Facilities include canoeing, table tennis, badminton, pool table, darts, swimming, bike riding, bird watching, platypus spotting, fishing.

We are not Vegetarians. NSI = No Smoking Inside. Wireless Internet available but limited.Strongly recommend a Telstra phone as Vodaphone has no coverage and Optus is very limited. Visit our web site or Instagram: sylva_lining_organics for more info.

We would prefer ALL applications emailed please.
