Hello helpers. My name is Alan, and my wife and I (both Asians) are hoping to kickstart a beach bunk bed/capsule hostel this year in East Malaysia, Sabah, Kudat (The tip of Borneo) for young beach travelers. We are average joe middle income family folks that happened to come across a beautiful 6 acres plot of land right next to the beach, and I'm hoping to create a lively, young, energetic, for-profit business there to synergize with the existing hotel and tourism business there.

Please look through my pin on (kudat project and capsule hotel bed) via link above, to briefly grasp on what i kinda want to do. We are not going to fully utilize the whole piece of the 1 acre, but will plan in phases as the project bumps along the year.

The reason i want to do the hostel now is because I'm not getting younger (41), and we want to leave a legacy behind with our names on it.

My sideplan (phaze 0) is to build a few (not more than 12) of those 2 story simple wooden beach huts for the local beach backpackers as well as to hose our volunteers. The construction materials will consist of quickly processed natural logs, wooden pallet and thatched roof with plenty of mosquito nets. Outdoor toilet will be done via bamboo wall frame and perhaps rammed earth wall experiment.

Core project will be a 2 story modern hostel, not more than 6-8000 square feet. We are still debating on whether to do wall-leaning bunk bed style, or capsule style room types. That is where your architectural skill comes in. The hostel that we want to draw inspirations from are: Sleepbox Thailand Chiangmai, Ccasa Hostel Vietnam, and Outpost Beach Hostel, El Nido

Living accomodation will be initially be located in Kota Kinabalu, probably at our 2 story apartment. We have 2 private queen bedroom available. When construction phase starts, we will stay at a proper house inside Kudat town, 20 minutes away from our beach land area.

I've just reactivated my helpx page, and is slowly browsing through those willing to travel to south east asia with carpentry, architectural, gardening and filming skills.
