We have been hosting helpers since 2011 and enjoy meeting people from all over the world, sharing food and cooking and hearing about other cultures.
We like to host a couple or 2 friends, preferably with some gardening experience. We need people from March onwards. We have planning permission to build a new eco house in the garden so there is quite a bit of preparation needed for this. There is a range of jobs depending on the time of year including pruning trees, picking fruit and veg, fencing, pond clearing, small building work, decorating, cooking, weeding, planting, making bonfires etc.
It is a large wildlife friendly garden, orchard, poly tunnel, veg, pond and coppice wood/hedges. We make sure the work is suitable for your level of experience and welcome your ideas too.
Artists studio in the garden running printmaking courses.

Accommodation is 2 double bedrooms in the house, or in simple small wooden house in the garden. This has a compost toilet and a solar panel that does lighting, so a peaceful place to stay.

Ideally we prefer two people together as it makes the work easier. We invite helpers to stay for one week or two, average 4hrs help per day, 6 days per week. This is flexible so you can do a whole day and then take a whole day out. In return for your work you will have all food and accommodation, wi-fi and laundry.
Catch a bus into York from the village every half an hour, buses from Copmanthorpe also go to Leeds and the coast (Scarborough and Whitby). From York there are good transport links for the dales, coast, etc.
