We have a small farm in South Central Idaho, 45 minutes from Sun Valley. Originally, an ornamental tree farm we soon realized that edibles are where it's at in these uncertain times. We are seeking helpers for our growing season between May and early November. We ask for 6 hours of work per day excluding weekends and that any volunteers be over 21 years of age. We provide a 2 bedroom/1 bath home with a full kitchen and washer/dryer. All food is provided either from the farm or from local sources when possible. The rural nature of our farm isn't conducive to children, and pets may be negotiable. We live in a beautiful canyon where the skies are dark enough at night to see the Milky Way and there are stars between the stars.
In the Spring we grow garden bedding plants for our Farmers Markets and for planting into our gardens for produce. We specialize in Bee products including, hand-dipped beeswax candles, lotion bars & hand salves, honey, bee pollen, balms and chest rub. We do a fair amount of foraging for mushrooms, in season, and wild crafting including: tinctures of elderberry, hawthorne and chokecherry syrup, wine & meade making. Our season is very busy with the gardens, Farmers Markets & festivals. Learn how to grow for market. We also have chickens, turkeys and dogs & cats. Billy is an accomplished finish carpenter who would be more than willing to teach someone motivated to learn. I trained and worked as a Sous Chef at a private country club and know canning & preserving, a most valuable skill in this day and age. Come and be a part of our dynamic little farm, leave with skills that will last you a lifetime.
