Would you like to come and help us out?
We are a small (5 rooms) and comfortable Guest House overlooking a scenic bay in our tiny community (250 residents) called Sandspit, on Haida Gwaii, a remote archipelago in the northern part of BC, close to Alaska.
There are daily flights from Vancouver to Sandspit, where the property is located, and also a ferry coming from Prince Rupert a few times a week.
Work is usually general help for day to day operation of the Guesthouse during the summer (cleaning, gardening, etc.), and general maintenance, construction etc. during the shoulder and off-season.
I am a 40 year old male, originally from France and now also a Canadian citizen.
I have been and am still a helper myself and have traveled in Canada, Australia and New Zealand, on Working Holiday Visas.
I have lived on Haida Gwaii for a little over 10 years and am a former employee of a local boat tour company (Moresby Explorers)and former manager of the Sandspit Visitor centre. Since many years, I have also been involved in a number of community projects mostly through the Sandspit Community Society (we have a website), and I organize the Sandspit Wild Harvest Festival each fall.
I have hosted many travelers (probably over 60) over the past years, from France, Germany, Japan, Austria, Spain, Taiwan, Australia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Norway, Hong Kong, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, Egypt, the US...
I can host usually one person at a time in the shoulder season, sometimes couples, and up to 2 or 3 helpers in the busy summer months. We cannot accommodate travelers with pets.
