Our Provencal olive farm and self-catering holiday Gite apartment is only 24km from Mediterranean beaches on the Cote d Azur. In fact, you can see the sea from the olive groves and the cabanon near the house!

IT'S HARVEST TIME!! WE ARE LOOKING FOR HELPERS from END-OCT AND NOV TO JOIN IN THE FUN....

The house is a typical Provencal bastide, built at the head of a secluded valley in 95 acres of Mediterranean olive groves and woodland.
It is backed by a dramatic circle of cliffs in the form of a horseshoe which protects it from the Mistral winds and is only 2 kms from the village which you can see down in the valley. The views are amazing... see more photos in our website http://olives-en-provence.com/galerie-en/
And behind the house there are 3,000 ha of national forestry with walks in an unspoiled and protected natural environment full of wildlife; wild boar, roe deer, foxes, martens, buzzards, hawks and several eagles among all the other lesser species.

Really useful (but not essential because we can teach you!) skills here are:
- chain saw, strimmer/brush cutter.
- Gardening/veg patch
- Experience and love of animals and wildlife in general
- Building experience (for maintenance, restoration, projects, dry stone walling...)
- and of course, bags of enthusiasm!

We particularly appreciate it if you have an eye for detail and want to get stuck in because some of the jobs are quite physical. So, if you're up to the challenge of keeping fit in a magical natural environment we would love you to come and give us a hand!

The house is at the end of a dirt track approx 4km from the village (or a very pleasant 2 km walk on a path through the woods) and although we don`t provide transport during your stay, we will of course collect you from the village and give you lifts there when we go down, shopping etc.

To get to us in the first place, there is a good bus service No 4802 from Toulon railway station to Belgentier Centre Village. Have a look at the timetable at: http://www.varlib.fr
enter-Départ: Toulon gare routière, Arrivée: Belgentier centre village/Parc Pieresc

We are happy to welcome up to 3 adults at a time. Accommodation is in a `bijou` but very comfy self-contained restored Cabanon. You make up your own shopping list so we can supply all your food and provisions . Time-wise, a minimum of 2 weeks is best for us if you can do that, or 3 or 4 weeks is ideal, especially during our olive harvest time (Oct, Nov).

There are always jobs going on: apart from olive harvest, there is tree felling, repairing provencal restanques/dry stone walls, vegetable patch, feeding and cleaning chooks, feeding the goats and sheep, brush cutting, stream clearing, track repairs, fence building & maintenance, stone clearing on the fields, pruning...to name but a few of the obvious ones!
There may also be some restoration and other projects. But these will depend on time and our own commitments.
Fresh ideas and experience are always welcome.

Before contacting us, please take the time to have a good look at our website or our 'Olives en Provence' Facebook and Instagram pages which will give you some insight into what we do and lots more pictures.

When contacting us, please include dates which would suit you and how long for. And say what SKILLS and experience you have e.g.: driving a tractor, car with trailer, chainsaw, carpentry, dry stone walling, building, sewing, gardening, or anything you think may be useful here...

Please bring sturdy work/walking boots or shoes, warm clothes (in the winter) and lightweight water/windproofs are always a good idea as we cannot provide these. We do provide work gloves and any safety kit where appropriate.

Food for thought: Running a farm means that there are key things to do at various times and we need to plan for these. We are very much dependant on the good will of our Helpers. If you fail to turn up or cancel at the last minute this makes it very difficult for us. Just saying..... :o)
