** URGENTLY LOOKING FOR 1 PERSON FROM 10 JUNE FOR 2-3 WEEKS **. We have a volunteer here on her own, and a vacancy right now. Situated near the beautiful Mourne Mountains, and only a few miles from the sea, in Co. Down, Lackan Cottage Farm is in the early stages of becoming a permaculture smallholding on a six and a half acre site, which includes grassland, cut over bog, and several acres of birch woodland.
We grow a lot of fruit and veg, have 2 polytunnels, a new orchard, and also a variety of natural building projects on the go.
We are offering accommodation in our converted off-grid horsebox, which is well insulated, has hot and cold running water, shower, toilet, and most importantly a woodburning stove. Alternatively a 21 foot tipi is available.
We've plenty of past experience of horticulture, as well as low impact building and green woodworking, so there will be many opportunities to learn, and have a go at a wide range of projects.
We also keep a flock of hens, two rescue horses, and dog, so visitors need to be comfortable around animals.
Bicycles are available, and we are 4.5 miles from the nearest shops.
We're pretty easy going, but it's a quiet, tidy spot, and we do like people to respect that. We also welcome folk that have a positive attitude, and an interest in low impact living, permaculture or similar.
