We are a family of four, Zeta, Mike, Yannis (12 years) and Athina (9 years), who live in the mountains in the Peloponnese region of Greece. Our small village, Bozika, has a population of less than 150 people, and is located 30 minutes from Kiato, the closest town. Kiato is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes southwest of Athens, and easily accessible by trains running either from the Athens airport of the city. We live our lives simply, as close as possible to the natural world, and we appreciate the richness that nature brings to our lives. Our family enjoys cooking and sharing traditional dishes from the Greek culture, and for the past three years we have been operating a small tavern/restaurant next to our house. In the restaurant, we serve food that we grow on our farm, including fruit, vegetables, pork, chicken, rabbit, turkey, cheese, honey and products we make from our olives!

Life on our farm includes lots of time working outside with our hands, and specific tasks very throughout the season:

September-October: Harvesting fruits and vegetables, collecting firewood to cook and warm the house, gathering wild walnuts, preparing and planting the garden for the winter.

November-December: Harvesting our olives (from 160 trees), making olive oil, collecting firewood.

January-February: Maintaining and harvesting the winter garden, collecting firewood.

March-April-May: Preparing and planting the summer garden, pruning the olive orchard and fruit trees.

June-July-August: Maintaining and harvesting the summer garden.

Apart from the specific tasks listed above, there are other tasks that are always necessary throughout the year: taking care of the animals, maintaining and repairing buildings and equipment, helping to run the restaurant (cooking, cleaning, and serving).

We are looking for volunteers who are motivated and interested in discovering the way of life on a family farm, and becoming part of our household. We are always excited to share our passions and knowledge. Zeta can teach you to cook delicious Greek food, and share her special culinary secrets and will show you how to cultivate a small organic farm, with plants, animals, and lots of passion!

We would love to host volunteers that are really motivated and open to learn and help us.Zeta is the only one responsible for the volunteers and will show them their daily tasks.
Please ask us abour your daily and weekly schedule before arriving at our place.

Unfortunately our taverna is not so busy at the moment, due to the crisis. Therefore more work in the Farm and in our vegetable gardens and around the house has do be done. Nevertheless we still prepare food everyday for constumers and ourselves. Now in the summer holidays we would also appreciate it, if our hosts can teach our children some english. Looking forward to see you ;)
