Our property is about 75 km North East of Williams Lake (we can pick up helpers at the bus station in Williams Lake). The property is currently being developed for self sufficiency and some small scale organic market gardening (uncertified but we follow organic methods & principles). We plan to sell excess veggies, and fruit from our orchard. We currently have an energy efficient Timber Frame home and two small cabins on the farm.We have a large veggie garden, fruit trees and berries, chickens, ducks and horses. The property is on a lake, in a beautiful valley which supports an abundance of wildlife. Our lake is in the middle of a chain of 8 lakes, all of which are accessible by canoe. In your time off you can explore the valley, by hiking, biking, canoeing or kayaking. Other things you can do include swimming, fishing and windsurfing. Our helpers typically stay in tents (with a bed). All of our guests have enjoyed sleeping out in the tents. However, there may be times when one of the cabins is available e.g., colder weather

The "earth cabin" was built by our son and his partner. It is an earth sheltered passive solar cabin which is off grid, and made with rammed earth tires, an adobe floor and clay plastered walls. We have hosted several earth building workshops at our farm as well as green roof construction. Our log cabin is truly a cabin, with no electricity. We still occasionally do some cooking outside over the campfire, and encourage our helpers to try it so they can better enjoy the natural surroundings.

We are excited to meet new people and share our vision. We have many other building projects on the go including working on farm buildings for small livestock, a wood fired sauna/bath house, and finishing the greenhouse. There is also work to do in the orchard and garden. Other ongoing projects include fencing, firewood collection, composting, and further development of the orchard to be a more productive permaculture system. We try to match the interests of our helpers with projects they will enjoy.

We are keen to share our knowledge of off-grid renewable energy systems, natural earth building, as well as gardening, orcharding, food preservation, and native plants. We enjoy meeting new people and sharing knowledge and experiences. The ideal helpers would be self-motivated and have a keen interest in organics / sustainable & rural living and open to learning.
