We are looking for volunteers that are interested in longer stays. We prefer a couple, but can also be two friends traveling. We are installing our permaculture garden and also need help with the main garden and grounds as well. Hard work, but really fun.
More generally, we need help with our vegetable and fruit gardens, flower gardens, walls, fences, gates, and olive and carob trees. Construction experience is very helpful. Helpers will be working with our gardener and farmer who is Mallorquin but speaks perfect English. He is familiar with all the traditional ways of agriculture.
Our farm sits on 248 hectares (620 acres) in the Val de March in the northern part of the Tramontana range, recently . We are 300 meters above the valley floor with stunning views across to the Tramuntana range of mountain range. The farm offers great hiking, bird watching, solitude and incredible vistas. We are about 15 minutes by car from the town of Pollensa.
The farm has an original olive oil press that is still used the traditional way to produce some of oil from the olives on the finca (farm). We commercially bottle and sell our ecological olive oil in the local market.
Within the grounds of the property are numerous fruit trees producing figs, apricots, plums, grapes, peaches, pomegranates, persimmons, apples, pears, lemons and oranges. At the top of the farm is a large valley with arable fields.
We are in a beautiful tranquil setting. Helpers will need to be interested in nature and solitude. We must insist on not smoking on he farm (very dry conditions) and limited alcohol use. Since helpers will be living in a part of our house, we also ask that helpers respect our privacy and are quiet at night. For security and safety, we take copies of your passport and proof of your health insurance. We have never had an accident, but we do this just in case.
For a variety of reasons, we are also limiting ourselves to volunteers that are over 23 years old. You will have your own space, but you will be usually on your own for cooking and cleaning.
Please let us know if you are interested. Previous farm work experience and references are valuable, but not as important as a good attitude and a willingness to work hard and enjoy the incredible beauty.
