We are a small Agro-tourism and winery business located on the Similkameen River in the sunny South Okanagan, BC, Canada. We look out at the spectacular Chopaka Mountains and neighbour BCs Grassland Desert Park. Similkameen Wild Winery Resort has deep connections to the land through the vineyard, local agriculture and our surroundings.

Helpers will work 6 hours a day, 5 days a week doing a wide variety of tasks in the resort, garden, vineyard and winery in exchange for board and all meals. We do eat some meat but are able to accommodate vegetarians, vegans and gluten allergies. We eat very healthy the majority of the time.

Helpers will have a private room in our helpers wing and will enjoy meals prepared together in our large guest kitchen. The resort has an excellent Wi-Fi signal and helpers will have access to our guest facilities, which includes a pool, hot tub, kayaks and bicycles. Helpers are encouraged to interact with and be great hosts for our guests.

Proprietor Roger Hol has a lifetime of farming and wine making experience. Winery work includes helping with tending vines (pruning, tucking, thinning, weeding), picking grapes and wine production (e.g. crushing, pressing, cleaning and punching down). Plus of course, the all-important tasting along the way. Our current winery is a 3-year-old award winning family business.

The resort has four guest rooms and will require general help with the checking in of guests, laundry, housekeeping, food preparation and cooking, pool and hot tub maintenance, plus other hospitality/resort/event planning and computer tech. We are also renovating the basement to create more guest and helpers rooms. We welcome anyone with building/construction skills but are also happy to teach.

Our small vegetable/ herb gardens are in the third year of production and we will be expanding with construction of new raised beds. We welcome your skills to help plan, plant and keep them watered and weeded and to develop them further. All that is harvested is for who ever is to table.
Our approach to gardening and grape growing is organic, although not certified as of yet.

There are 2 small towns 15-20 min drive in either direction, Keremeos and Osoyoos. The closest airport is in Penticton, 45 minutes away, and buses arrive and depart from either Keremeos or Osoyoos. Check out poparide or Craigslist for ride sharing.

Either during free time or as an assigned chore, they will also be invited to take part in our wine/vineyard tours, wine tasting and to learn about self-sustainable farming as a vineyard in the Similkameen Valley. Or they can just relax on the beach by the river and watch the local wildlife. There are also many great hiking trails around, local indigenous culture and many summer events (music, food, markets, wine tastings).
