We are Jon and Liz.
We have a small farm on the Hastings River at Wauchope, near Port Macquarie on the mid north coast of NSW.
Our business is producing silage (feed for cattle and horses). We grow various crops including Lucerne, Plantain, Chicory, Clovers, Pea and Millet.
We are improving our property by planting native trees along the road and fruit trees around our sheds. We are establishing picnic areas along the riverfront and repairing the buildings.
The farm is bordered by deep riverfront on two sides. We have a variety of watercraft; canoes, paddle-ski, wind-surfer, small sailing boats, tinnies, and a large comfortable ‘mother-ship’. In your time off, you could fish, use the boats, enjoy barbecues on the shore or our 'mother ship' or just walk/run along the riverbank. The river is truly beautiful here and you often have it to yourself.
If you have experience or willingness in any of the following areas, you will be a help to us.
Gardening – weeding, planting, watering
Building skills of any type – carpentry, steelwork, painting
Cleaning, Cooking, household help
Jon is an experienced builder/sailor/craftsman and would be happy to help you learn more skills. Liz is an accountant, has an office at home, and also needs help with domestic duties.
We expect an average of 4 hours work per day in exchange for accommodation and all meals. We live next door to the farm in a beautifully renovated old home.
We eat well, our tastes are varied, and we also love to try the recipes our helpers share with us.
The Wauchope / Port Macquarie area has many attractions; beautiful beaches, Koala/wildlife park, bush walks, rain forests, weekend markets, galleries, cafes and restaurants.
We look forward to sharing our farm and home with you.
