Hi there! I am looking for help on my 11 acre artist retreat in the North Florida woods. Somewhere Glassworks is a full service, multi-faceted glass studio with glass furnace work, fusing, flame working, cold working, metal working and mosaics.

My work is available at fine art festivals, in galleries, and through both private and wholesale commissions around the country.

Gainesville is a beautiful, liberal college town surrounded by freshwater springs and wildlife. I'm happy to show you around as much as time allows. A car is helpful here in the countryside, but not required.

I'd love to find an experienced glassblower who would like to share the shop and work/ trade for lodging and blow time. I'm also be open to the right person who doesn't blow glass, but has a love for the land, or travelers who would like to stay for a week or two in exchange for odd jobs and good stories. I always have projects afoot and things that need maintaining. There's enough going on that you can choose your work trade projects.

There is a treehouse built especially for Artists in Residence/ folks on work exchange. It includes a queen size bed, futon, kitchenette with microwave, stovetop, sink, AC, and wireless internet. It's small and very rustic, but has what you need in the trees!

There is a small bath house on the property with shower and bathroom. All costs (electric, water, internet) included for trade. Meals are on your own, although there are potlucks fairly often.

In trade for lodging, work 14 hours a week maintaining and organizing the land, the shops, and helping with the glass business. If you're interested in blowing glass, you can also gain hands on knowledge at no cost depending on timing, although hot glass time would not count toward your lodging trade.
