This is a new local farm in the north of Thailand called Phayao province where now opens for travelers come to learn a real northern lifestyle; we are not a tourist area.

Who are we?

A Thai family who would like to make their land is more valuable in any kind of agriculture/permaculture. We would like to have a sustainable life in a rural that we used to be while sharing with anyone who opens to learn.
So we came up with this program by having a Thai man who was a farmer for over 30 years will work and share many things with you at the farm.

We used to grow rice, vegetables, flowers (for sell), building mud houses and wooden houses, many things at the farm. Thus it would be great that we share with other both in and out of Thailand.

Why you should joining us?

We have plans to spread more information about "How to live sustainable, doing an organic farm, building a natural building".

Here, you will have an opportunity to learn from farmer mostly whom full of experience in sustain life for over 40 years. For supporting us with a small fee of 2,800 B/week/person which is included seasoning fruits breakfast, lunch, transfers between bus station & farm, accommodatio, and bicycle to see around the village. A real opportunity is waiting for you here.

For a natural building construction, you have an opportunity to acknowledge yourself about the process of the whole building that will bring a lot of challenge and creatively opportunities that we are going to share this moment. Thanks for everyone who was participated us!

Who can join us?

We are looking for people who really OPEN for any our NORTHERN THAI ROOT and life style by staying and learning from us at our farm. Anyone who is ready to go back to our roots. RESPECTFULLY Thai culture and person is necessary.

Where to stay?

We provide an accommodation for free. It is a Thai wooden house (shared-room/2 pp), hot water, mosquito net, pillow and bed sheets, also shared-bicycles that everyone can use.

A short stay is welcomed as visitor and also long stay if you like to learn more and be in a peaceful village with us. A suggested minimum 2,800 B/WEEK/PERSON which will primarily go supporting the farm such some meat and maintain the Guesthouse.

You probably have the best story to share with your family and friends. :)

Meals:

Volunteers have to help preparing and go to a market, and cooking lunch together, help for cleaning up a kitchen and wash dishes after cooking. We provide only lunch. Breakfast & Dinner will be on your own.

What to learn?
There are many activities to do at the farm all year round and the main activity will be making adobes for a mud house and planting organic vegetables.

For EXTRA LESSONs that you are interested and would like to learn, volunteers have to pay for the extra lesson which we will do in the afternoon such tree branch grafting lesson, making a dessert, making a useful souvenir from coconut skull, making a herbal juice, cooking special dish, etc.

Forget the stress and come to enjoy spending time, learn from us and make your day as a great daily day here.

Important part of our culture, you will be apart of our community in any festival and ceremony. As all ceremonies are not for tourist as you have experienced in the big city before, you will learn how to interact with local people. For example, we make a Thai dessert for offering in Songkran Festival in April. So you will learn how to make it from the beginning: preparing materials, til cooking.

Volunteers suppose to work in the morning then you can be free in the afternoon. Make sure that you are able and happy to work (learn) from us.

Things you need to bring with:

We found many problems since / while we were running the farm. Obviously, we would like to solve those problems and keep everything nice and clean, more organize and ready to use for long term. That’s why we came up with rules. If not, nobody cares about our properties and we have to pay for all damages over and over again.

As you know we are not a hotel / resort / home stay that provided you many convenience things. We would like to make it clear in case something happens to volunteers and also volunteers make some damages. Thus, to keep your house clean also take care of our properties (bed sheet, blanket, mosquito net, toilet, hot shower, etc.) while you are staying is very appreciated and very helpful. If there is something broken, volunteer need to fix, otherwise, other it will become your problem as well.

Food will be local that mean everyone will have the same food as we cook together. We can't cook special dishes just for what you like as we are not a restaurant or hostel. And you do agree with what we have and can share with you as we live our life daily.

The farm is welcomed for everyone who is really open to learn a real northern Thai culture. Volunteers need to respect the culture and Thai persons. And we believe that all volunteers have been read about Thai culture and how to interact with us, especially "giving a hug" is not preferable, better for giving a "Wai" in Thai way.

***In case that you not want to help, work and learn but you would like to stay at the farm while other are working, then you have to add another 500 B/day/person (800 B/day/person inc. breakfast and room cleaning). Or just inform us that you prefer a bed and breakfast only!

**We will inform you again when you give us a contact with full information about a donation and also a piece of paper on the arrival date.**

Volunteers responsibilities:

Cleaning your room/house/toilet/trash both during and before leaving the farm are REQUIRED.

Washing machine is available for 40 B/time for doing laundry which is including washing powder and softener and you do it yourself as we have no automatic washing machine.
Blanket washing service is 80 B/blanket.

Clean up kitchen and dishes after cooking is REQUIRED.
Not allowed to walking any house with shoes on (STRICT).
Not allowed sexual/drugs/illegal stuff at the farm (STRICT).
Respect Thai culture and people is REQUIRED.
Not point your feet to other or keep it low from people (STRICT).

Do not forget to confirm us the date you will be arrived here/arrived Thailand by email/phone/message here. If not, we won't have enough food for you and might be no room available. Normally we don't want to have too many people to stay at a time. All came different time.

In case that you rush out of the farm in early morning or don't want to do the room cleaning, you can use our service for total 220 B/person as we need to prepare the room for next other:
1. Room cleaning service is 100 B/person (we will have somebody comes for cleaning for you after you left the farm)
2. Washing machine service is available for 40 B/time for doing laundry which is including washing powder and softener and you do it yourself as we have no automatic washing machine.
3. Blanket washing service is 80 B/blanket.

Here you will have those opportunities to learn from a local person for some support which is included traditional meals, accommodation and transfers.

We are concern about lacking of food in the near future and what we can do to survive :)

What is the project about?

Preserving Northern Culture is the main reason of this project.Then we will educate villagers about how important of permaculture does to us and having a sustainable life, not to sell their lands to traders. We concern that many people sold their land (rice fields) for building condos or apartments. You all could support by spreading the culture around the world. We still love to see a rice paddy all over Thailand as a motherland.

Who can join us?

We are looking for people who really strongly interested in any NORTHERN THAI ROOT and LIFESTYLE by staying and learning from us at our farm. Anyone who is ready to go back to our roots. RESPECTFULLY Thai culture and person is necessary required here at the farm. Leave your Western Culture at home such giving a :HUG" or "Kiss on the face". We found this problem recently that was not professional at all to destroy our farm. We prefer everyone give a "WAI" is way better and beautiful.

Where to stay?

We provide an accommodation for free. It is a Thai wooden house (shared-room/2 pp), mosquito net, pillow and bed sheets, also shared-bicycle that everyone can use.

Both short stay and long stay are welcomed.

Here, volunteers need to pay for staying which will primarily go supporting the farm while you are staying such food, bills, tools, skills, transfers, maintenance, etc. Contact us for deposit. *This section: you need to make sure that you are agreed with our rules and fit in our project. As we try to have no any problems in the future with volunteers.

You probably have the best story to share with your family and friends. :)

Meals:

Everybody MUST to

-wake up at 6 AM everyday (in case you want to get up late, so you need to find your own breakfast).
-go to a local market that will be finished at 7 AM
-prepare food together
-cook meals together
-help for cleaning up a kitchen
-wash dishes (give your hands for any cooking or cleaning)
-be ready for working in the farm at 9 AM
-cook lunch together

If volunteers wake up late and can't catch breakfast, you need to buy your own meal.

*A helpful person is required at the farm.

Volunteers from this website suppose to work at least 4 hours a day in the morning then you can be free in the afternoon. You are welcomed to work with us as long as you not feel tired. Free-bicycle to cycling around, and transfers.

Thus we prefer to make sure that you can work and happy to work (learn) from us.

What you have to pay for:
- Laundry for your own clothes (20 B/time) You do it yourself as we provide a washing machine.
- Room cleaning and Laundry for bed sheet, pillow case, blanket, mosquito net (150 B/person).



How to get here?

We suggest you to land in BKK then catch a bus from Mo Chit Bus Terminal direct to "Chun" then you can get a local bus to Chiang Mai/Chiang Rai/Nan afterward to save your time.

Other bus/plane info is below.

You can take a daily plane to Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai Airport in the morning as the best time to catch a bus to our farm.

From Bangkok: By bus

You can take a morning or night bus at Mo Chit Bus Station from Bangkok for 549 B directly to our town in the evening or early morning depends on your bus. It will drop you off at a bus stop by a main road. We will pick you up there.

From Chiang Rai: By bus

You can get a taxi from the airport to the bus station in the city and tell a driver that you want to go to Chun District which is in Phayao. Then you take a small blue bus "Pa Dad/Chun" at the bus station near the Night Bazaar which it takes at least two hours from Chiang Rai with a beautiful view of agriculture province. The price might be 35-45 Thai baht. Then call us to pick you up at the bus station in our town.

From Chiang Rai – Chun 10.30 AM / 2 PM / 5 PM
From Chun – Chiang Rai 5.30 AM / 7.30 AM / 12.30 PM

From Chiang Mai: By bus

You can get a taxi from the airport or “Song Taew” - red taxi - to the bus station and the price should be around 120 Thai baht maximum but less if you come from the old city, it should be around 20-40 THB. Then go get a ticket of the GREEN BUS to CHUN(Pronounce similar to JUNE but shorter) to the ticket staff. It costs 154 Baht for the 2nd class (194 B for the 1st class) and it will take 4 hours to get here. Then give us a call or let us know the departure time. Then wait at the bus station (near Tesco), we will pick you up.

May benefit your trip:

Our village is close to:
1.Chiang Khong for visa run just 1 hour by green bus.
2.It's only 1.30 hour to Laos (Huay-Xai border). Ticket is less than 100 B.
3.You could go to Kun-Ming/China by bus as well through Laos.

Nearby routes: Chiang Rai, Mae Sai, Chiang Saen, Chiang Khong, Nan, Teong (Pu Chi Fah mountain), Laos, China.

As you know we are not a hotel / resort / home stay that provided you many convenience things. We would like to make it clear in case something happens to volunteers and also volunteers make some damages to our property, volunteer paid for all damages.

The farm is welcomed for everyone who is really open to learn a REAL northern Thai culture. Volunteers need to respect the culture and Thai persons while you are living here. And we believe that all volunteers have been read about Thai culture and how to interact with us before you made a decision.

What is became your responsibility?

- 2,100 B/week/person (Pre-paid)
- The gratuity-donation needs to make at arrival date for buying food. Please confirm in case you want to stay longer.
- A copy of your passport (signed named).
- You will have assign works in daily by the owner.

*The small charge of staying at the farm has to be agreed for both guest and farm owner. We can say everyone is different, some is more understanding what we are doing, but some not. So we would like to clarify everything here first. :)

*We have different works which are totally different than whatever you ever done before such build a Thai wooden house, plant rice, track the soil, feed chicken, make a grass roof and wall, etc.
- It's necessary to take care of yourself.
*We have no any kind of INSURANCE for taking care everyone at the farm. Any accident is not our responsibility. (We won’t let you do too risky work at the farm unless you would like to try).
-Keep it clean:pillow case/bed sheet/mosquito net/dishes before leaving the farm
-Clean up (must): toilets/trash
-Not walk in any houses with your shoes on (it's very rude and no respect)
-Leave your review for us on a provided guest book

*We will inform you again with a piece of paper on the arrival date.

*Workshop:
For other activities that you would like to do for special such cooking special northern menu or Thai desserts (with banana leafs) and other, volunteers can pay yourself to buy stuff (ingredients: sugar/flour) and pay for our time (500 THB/3 dishes/session).

- Do not forget to confirm us the date you will be arrived here/arrived Thailand by email/phone/message here. If not, we won't have enough food for you and might be no room available. You have to buy food at restaurant sometimes in case you arrived our town late at night.

*Remark:
The rooms we provided are shared-bed room for 2 persons. Do not expect to have your private room as staying at a hotel or guest house.
