Unavailable from mid Dec to late Jan.

Over the next few months we will pruning our chestnuts and olives and other general maintenance. I generally work with you.

We are 'half way' up the Kaipara Harbour's South Head peninsular, and some 70km north west of central Auckland. We grown chestnut and olives, plus other fruit trees. Helpers would assist orchard maintenance and associated activities, and harvesting chestnut and olives in season, .

Chestnuts harvest starts in mid-March, for about a month, and then, in due course, the olive harvest. And then there is always general orchard maintenance.

Now restoring two Chevrolet 1929 trucks - one a tip truck, the other a van. Assistance couold be useful - a mechanic or a cabinet maker/boat builder/kitchen maker.

Chestnuts fall from their trees - in our orchard around second week of March, and go on for another 4-6 weeks. The fallen nuts need to be picked up every 2-3 days - with our vacuum machine or by hand. They are then washed and graded. Some are sold whole, and some used for further processing. We also open the orchard for Pick Your Own (PYO) pickers.

Olives are harvested between late April and early/mid June, depending upon the season. Harvested olives are pressed the same day.

Free WIFI/internet. Swimming pool. Close by activities include horse trekking, parachuting, golf course, fishing, walking, hot-pools and relaxing.

We live in Northcote (Auckland), part-time, so pickup from Auckland city/Helensville possible.

The Kaipara Harbour is said to be the largest harbour in the southern hemisphere, although it is no longer open to trade.
