Greenhouse plantings and gardens are the horticultural features, but the conservatory is also a music school. The design and construction of unique growing spaces is a primary activity of the host, a structural artist. People with an interest in helping to build unique creations are especially encouraged to apply. As the conservatory is also an active guest house, much assistance with domestic duties is also appreciated. The local amenities are outstanding, including a very nice Library just 1 block away with a fabulous swimming hole in the river right next to it. The local college is a block in the other direction, offering a host of interesting classes including sustainability studies, at astonishingly low tuition rates. There are hot springs and bike trails, a free local bus service, and nature trails practically just outside the door. It is very much a wholesome family atmosphere, with impressionable children, so a healthy lifestyle and positive role modeling are assiduously practiced. Therefore only persons willing to eschew all intoxicants, (including tobacco), can be considered for hosting.

*UPDATE: The current purely creative endeavor is the creation of massive, deep toned chimes from large sections of iron pipe. Most of the design of wind activated ringers, suspension, and finishing are now solved, the tuning process remains the final challange. We are also producing a beehive based on the regular pentagon, for sale at the farmers market.

Reupdate: Two new animal husbandry woodworking projects are active, the first is a chicken's laying box that rolls the egg away into a drawer with a lid that opens toward the hen, preventing pecking at the eggs or the collector, even allowing reaching right under the hen with impunity.
The second is a feeder box for goats that disallows wasting of hay but also raises the level of the feed platform automatically (by gravity through pulleys with weights),to make access easy.
Fun Stuff!
