About the Farm:

We have a ranch with approximately 50 beef cows and their calves, several horses, two miniature donkeys, a goat, two sheep, two llamas and numerous cats and dogs.

There is no longer a bus service to Meadow Lake but we are able to pick up from North Battleford, Saskatchewan or Cold Lake, Alberta. The Rider Express and KCTI runs from Saskatoon to Edmonton daily, dropping off in North Battleford or Lloydminster. Since it's a big commitment for us to go to these cities to pick you up, we ask for a minimum commitment of four to six weeks (depending on the time of year).

There's always plenty to do on the farm throughout the year. In winter all our animals are in the home yard and you can help us feed and check on the animals and spring is our calving season - always a busy time but fun time.
In summer you can help us with hauling the hay bales (round bales) from the field to the home yard (using tractors and bale wagons), farmyard maintenance, vaccinate calves & do other veterinary work. Also help with the younger horses. In the fall we bale square bales and get ready for the winter.

Other jobs include making, checking and mending fences, general yard tidy up. We also would like you to help with general household duties including cooking as part of our family. If you are mechanically inclined we have a heated well equipped farm shop and we always have machinery which needs maintenance and repairs.

There are lots of opportunities to ride horses (either english or western) especially from Spring through Fall where we are often out riding everyday. If you're a competent rider, it's also possible to ride in winter but be aware that some days can be too cold and sometimes the ground is too slippery.
Throughout the year there are plenty of opportunities to go on cattle drives as many of our neighbours also use horses to move cattle. We also go on trail rides, some of which last several days when we go to the provincial park which is an hour away from the ranch. We also have a boat and fishing equipment you can use.
There's lots of wildlife in the area and you may get to see a coyote, bear, elk, moose, fox, hummingbirds or beaver.

There are lots of events and activities going on throughout the year in Meadow Lake and the surrounding areas including rodeos, chuckwagons, parades, hockey matches, sled dog races. An International driverís license would be an asset.

Btw, we do answer everybody that writes (except spam) so if you don't hear from us, chase us up - I'm not 100% tech savvy.
