work on beef cattle breeding farm:current projects=prep for planting summer crop/fencing/weeding/rock and stickpicking/mulching and seeding gaps after planting/feed 2 bulls and 3 cows daily/weigh calves/2 stockwork days: preg testing, vaccinations

Hello Backpackers/travellers

Are you tired of fruit picking work? no experience in other farm work?
Well try the real Australian farm experience (and get some training to make you more marketable in the workplace):
This beef cattle breeding farm can supply continuous work, short or long term is available.

I'm looking for people who wish to stay for a minimum* of 2 weeks to 3 months as the farm has a tight schedule to follow (*less by negotiation if you have previous farm or trade experience relevant to my operations).
I have previously had a number of backpackers working on the farm, some for visa and some just for tourist experience.
Advance bookings are recommended, however despite my above minimum 2 week stay, anyone interested in coming for a lesser period to fill any emergent vacancies is welcome to enquire for waitlisting
The work is VOLUNTARY, no paid work, however, the accommodation and food is provided for free so you can save money while working. You are more than welcome to bring food if you wish.
The farm itself has 75 adult cattle and 41 calves, currently. I usually carry more but have downsized due to the drought, so numbers are subject to change in the future!

This farm has been run throughout with one farmer owner only.

Please don't regard this as an easy opportunity to gain farming experience as there are important aspects in running the farm.

Please be prepared to get dirty with physical work involved. This can be a fun environment if you are prepared to put the effort in. I do strongly advise that people who don't have a positive aspect towards the position would be better off looking elsewhere. I don't mean to put you off the position but I do have deadlines and targets to reach and have a lot of responsibilities so I don't really have enough time to take on applicants who wish to have an easy ride. This includes mentally as well as physically ie you would be expected to pay attention during training /induction so that I do not have to continually repeat myself; to notice what is going on around you and become effective at working alone and not needing me to be thinking for you all the time. Whilst I am prepared to train I also expect applicants to assume responsibility for work they are given and to think about what they are doing.
The farm itself is based approx 20km west of COFFS HARBOUR on the mid north coast of NSW.
The farm has great visual aspects, with a river running around the site, with great valley views. If you're interested in wildlife then there is a lot to see from snakes (if you wish to find them) platypus, echidna, wallabies, turtles, water dragons and plenty of bird wildlife.
Transport includes a school bus right past the farm gate, other forms we can discuss if you wish over the phone.
Mobile and internet reception is available in the area provided carrier and equipment are suitable.
There are 2 local villages within 6 km of the farm.
Accommodation is sharing the farmhouse with me (own bedroom or share with other backpacker/s, share other facilities AND HOUSEWORK!)

I don't get emails on my phone and rarely look at the desktop as too tired at end of the day and too busy during it! so would prefer interested people to contact me by phone in the first instance, and be persistent because I can't always answer immediately. obviously I also can't always talk for a long period if in the middle of a job, but we could make a time to talk more later when for convenient for both
