We are an English/Spanish family living on our tropical fruit farm in Maro, Nerja right by the sea in one of the only sections of undeveloped Andalucian coast.

For 8 years we’ve been organically growing Chirimoya, mango, avocado, bananas etc..

We try live with low impact and to work in harmony with nature to create diversity and abundance, to live mostly self sufficiently in terms of food, and solar energy. We're not religious or into any cult, we believe in healthy living, with respect to one another and the planet.

We have an outdoor kitchen, and the fact that we grow papayas is proof of a
wonderful climate.

As we are busy with family life and work both on and off the land, we require that helpers are quite independent, which is why we recently constructed for them a wooden cabin and kitchen. It has views out to sea, which is so close you can almost spit a Chirimoya Seed there.

In exchange for a great place to stay and hopefully learning something about organic tropical fruit production, we ask for help for 5 mornings a week.

We are often harvesting fruit, and pruning trees, composting, mulching etc..
Autumn 2019 we are constructing a new building to store fruit and machinery and strong helpers with some basic construction experience would be massively appreciated. Also we have many new fruit trees to plant, and some fencing to erect to keep out the wild boar.

We do expect helpers to be enthusiastic , motivated and reasonably capable, therefore we only take volunteers with some experience of land based work and a passion for plants/trees and sustainable agriculture. They also need to be fit and reasonably strong as land based work is physical. We do not take in helpers with dogs.

It’s not all about work, there is fantastic snorkeling, diving, kayaking, fishing… Also there are wonderful hikes in the mountains immediately inland. This is the Sierra Almijara with 1800m peaks. There is good rockclimbing nearby which I love to do.

Maro is 10 min walk away, both Malaga and Granada about 45 mins by by car. The farm is easy to get to by public transport.

If possible we perfer helpers who can stay for at least one month. And for the right person/couple/family there could be an opportunity for to stay long term.

Additionally, each summer we look for people to take care of the Finca for about 10weeks. Caretaking includes maintaining the automatic irrigation system, and therefore a reasonable level of technical ability is needed.

If you like the sound of this, and you like to eat tropical fruit by the sea then we look forward to hearing from you.

Benja and Ela
