This farm is a Registered Canadian Charity using nature and animal assisted therapies for special needs kids and their families. See the requirements BE SURE YOU CAN COMPLY BEFORE YOU CONTACT ME PLEASE
The farm is located close to the touristic Mahone Bay (3 minutes by bike), a beautiful part of Nova Scotia's South Shore.
The farm is developed and designed to welcome autistic children: nice woodland trails and a pleasant brook, a pond, an autism friendly riding arena and sensory paddock.
I live here with 12 therapy critters including 1 large dog, 2 orange cats, 2 dwarf rabbits, 2 pygmy goats and 5 therapy horses.
You will be welcomed in a private room in my farm house. I am unable to post recent photos there is a problem with the browser just go to the farm's web site for recent photos and news THANKS
There is always a lot to do here, with or without the children:
- feeding horses
- cleaning the stable
- cleaning the area
- fixing fences
- preparing horses
- take part to the work with children
Depending on what is in progress, you could be involved in bigger tasks we are always making the farm more accessible.
I'm expecting the volunteers to work a minimum of 5 hours a day.
Internet and bike are available for your use.
REQUIRED NO EXCEPTIONS:
Because we are welcoming vulnerable children and adults with disabilities,
1) a criminal background will be required. This is issued in your home country.
2) proof of traveler's medical and accident insurance to stay at the farm.
3) TWO references (professors, employers, professional with contact information)
HAVE THESE BEFORE YOU CONTACT ME PLEASE
I'll be happy to welcome you.
