Primarily a banana farm, but also coffee and avocados. We are mostly concentrating on our banana business as demand is very strong and we are having a hard time keeping up! Our dried banana is sold on 4 islands as well as internet sales and we need helpers to help us keep it going!

Remote, exotically beautiful location on an old Hawaiian Kuleana garden land surrounded by jungle forrest. We are a small family with thriving farm businesses that require a lot of work. We are long time farmers here with lots to share about Kona style permaculture if you are interested. We live off grid, on water catchment, at the end of a 4wd road on the mountain above Ho'okena Beach and work long days as our dried banana business is growing beyond our wildest expectations. We also have won the Kona Coffee Cupping Competition (2004) and we ship avocados directly to Honolulu health food stores. We are full time farmers and this is a real farm, so if you want to experience life on a busy organic farm, please be ready to immerse yourself into our work bubble. We love our job but realize it's not for everybody! lol (!!!)
Depending on season, you might be required to harvest/feed bananas, pick/process coffee, harvest/pack avocados, lots of machete work and always wash and peel bananas until you see them in your dreams. It can be very physical and guys would need to be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
We are remote and it its not easy to leave here and get back quickly, but we can give you rides when we go. We are directly above Ho'okena Beach, about a one hour walk, although once on the little road to the beach, people will often offer you a ride.
If you can't handle spiders, geckos, rats, wild pigs, wild cattle, jungle mold, rain, or mosquitos, try somewhere else. There are plenty of more accessible, civilized farms where nature won't overwhelm you. No tobacco smoke please, thank you.
We are willing to share what we've learned so far, everything from basic to advanced organic fertilizing, grafting trees to solar electric, tropical fruit culture and off grid living. How to partner with the laws of nature to make farming easier, and more than you ever hoped to know about bananas and joy of making a living off the land. I also have exciting construction projects coming up in the near future.
We speak English, Japanese and Spanish and welcome all others.
If you are serious about hunkering down on a beautifully remote, out of control weed-wise, (I made peace with the weeds long ago:) thriving organic farm with a small family, then we would love to hear from you.
We are not interested in overly religious people, super extreme diets, (vegetarian/vegan is fine) or people looking for ''host'' families to base a Hawaiian vacation. If you focus on working with us, you'll find that adventures happen in due time. We eat healthy and encourage helpers to harvest and eat from the land. We love the ocean also and make time to get there.
We offer a private shack with hot water kitchen and bathroom/hot shower with wifi. We need helpers who can cook their own food. We ask 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. We pay $100 per week for food. Sorry, but if you are a couple, we can still only pay $100 per week per couple. As you will have the opportunity to work extra hours, it is pretty easy to save up hours and take extra days off to explore the island. Looking for the rare woofer type who is highly motivated, outdoorsy, rugged and loves being into the flow of the land.. Someone like that might find this to be an excellent win/win worktrade/adventure/experience.
Thanks for reading our profile and best of luck!
Andy Kazune Kaito & Shogo
Also: Please have some sort of insurance, as your main tool is a very sharp machete. Mahalo!
