My name is Eki and I have a dream that I invite you to help me make. I need assistance with daily house work, such as housekeeping, gardening, making firewood, small renovating jobs, berry picking, mushroom picking... depending on the season.

Volunteers should be proficient in English, as an important reason for hosting is that I have an opportunity to practice my language skills.
This bohemian house is an old border guarding building, total with 10 rooms, 3 floors, located close (400 m) to the Russian border in Eastern Finland. Currently, this is a private home but I have a small B&B (home accommodation) too. I have lived here for the past 20 years, currently I have a cat and four Alaskan Malamutes sled-dogs (kept outside 24/7).

This is a very quiet and peaceful place, with the nearest shop located 25 kilometers away. Here you can enjoy the silence and nature.

Private room and daily meals (no meat apart from fish) are provided, WI-FI, sauna everyday if needed, and a free gym is also available in the village nearby. Summer activities are canoeing, rowing, trekking, mountain biking, bird and bear watching, yoga, fishing, rafting, tubing, climbing, swimming...

Here in Eastern Finland, there are three national parks that offer unforgettable hiking in the Finnish wilderness. There is also a magnificent 100 km wilderness river near my place that flows over the border to Russia and ends in the largest lake wilderness lake in Europe, Ladoga. 60 km of the river is located on the Finnish side. We make canoeing trips to the Finnish side. The river also offers "tubing" during the warm summer months. "The Karelian Trails" mountain bike trail is located in our area.

My big vision is to build the Hermit Beach as a small hippie village and a meeting point in the future where trekkers, nature lovers and travellers, cyclists, backpackers in Finland meet each other, and can spend time together as either to be a volunteer or budget traveller. In my mind, I see my place as small, atmospheric bungalows surrounded by lush gardens and beach woods, which are led by meandering forest paths. Evenings at the beachside campfire strengthen our community, cultural diversity creates richness, and communal yoga and meditation deepen our spirituality. Working in vegetable gardens will increase your understanding of the importance of clean food, and you will learn how to grow your own food. We grow, collect and fish the most of our meals. You may find here a new direction for your life and of course more understanding about ecoliving.

Volunteers will be welcomed to the Hermit Beach from April to October, with 3-7 volunteers at a time during the 2020 season. Around my village few of my friends are hosting volunteers too and we have parties together...

This place has good vibes :)
