Come and experience life in the beautiful Wadi Rum Desert.
Enjoy the silence of this magical place and learn about being part of a Bedouin community. Pick up some Arabic and help with the family’s tourism business, which includes a camp in the desert for overnight stays, and jeep, camel, and hiking tours in the desert.
Your schedule is flexible, depending on how much work there is to do and also how much you wish to get involved!
The Camp is situated in the protected area of the Wadi Rum Desert in the south of Jordan and is 15km from Wadi Rum village. The spectacular location is perfect for watching sunsets and the amazing night sky of stars. The area is also great for hiking and rock scrambling. Take a look at our website for more info.
Zedane would appreciate help with the following:
•NEW: Zedane is now looking for a website designer who can improve on and increase the content of his website (interactive map of Jordan, links page etc).
•Management of online e-mail reservations by replying to e-mails from individuals and group leaders and logging booking details – Helper needs good written English, as well as basic computer skills.
• Basic computer maintenance would be useful.
• Answering guests’ questions and making them feel welcome and comfortable – Helper needs good spoken English and the ability to get along with people from different cultures.
• Helping out at the camp when needed e.g. serving tea/clearing up after meals/helping with preparation of dinner/breakfast.
• Working in a small organic garden.
• Promoting our camp by contacting travel agencies and similar via the net.
Tasks vary from day to day depending on the number of guests. Flexibility helps and a willingness to use initiative and assist with whatever is needed each day.
Most mornings, you will walk down to our office in the village to answer e-mails and to help welcome guests arriving from in and around Jordan. Then you will often head out to the camp to help prepare for the next guests. When the guests arrive, you will welcome them and make them feel comfortable.
In return, we open our home to you and look forward to an exchange of language, culture and customs. You have plenty of time to take walks in the vast surroundings of the camp or in and around the village, and you're sure to pick up some Arabic along the way! You also have opportunities to go on jeep or hiking trips.
For those who may wish to stay long-term, there would be the possibility of receiving a wage which can be discussed after you have spent some time here in Wadi Rum, when we know each other better!
Zedane is currently looking for a person willing to commit to work here for up to six months or more.
As for short-term, we welcome you to stay at least a month, so that you can make the most of life in the desert!
Thank you for reading this and YOU ARE WELCOME!
