Boat Restoration - do you want to learn new techniques and skills? : Vacancies available from 8th June 2020 onwards.
Single helper needed working with me - Richard- on a classic yacht situated in Whitehaven Marina in Cumbria England UK.
This is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful English Lake District and climbing the highest mountain in England, or seeing the local coast, by walking, or by bicycle, rail or bus. Famous C2C cycle route starts here. I can provide a spare bike.
Easy 5 min walk to the house, shops, Marina, and Whitehaven Railway Station and Whitehaven bus station.
Free unlimited internet access.
Suitable for a male helper, handy with tools, and of a practical DIY nature, possibly Engineering Student. Helper should be reasonably fit and able to climb ladders. Suitable for a helper who can speak some English.
I am a retired BBC engineer and in the process of restoring a large classic yacht in the local marina in a large fully equipped engineering workshop.
Help is required approximately 5 days per week, 9 - 5 each day re-painting/varnishing etc re-building the boat. Hours /days very flexible. Usual fair share of help with housework/cooking etc as you will be living with Richard, and sharing small house. All meals and accommodation included.
You will learn skills in electrical/mechanical engineering/TIG welding and woodworking/fibreglassing techniques and boat construction. If you stay a while you could gain considerable knowledge regarding the repair maintenance and construction of boats.
When you leave I can give you a job reference for your CV or University.
To improve your skills involved, then no helpers less than four weeks stay please.
No smoking in the house please.
Previously I have had over twelve helpers, one at a time. All very successful indeed. All are welcome back.
If you wish to stay by the sea then please contact me now.
