Nathan and his wife, Ghie, run a Pastured Poultry farm in the Low country of Vance, South Carolina. Established in 2010, the farm came into being after Nathan read Joel Salatin’s books “You Can Farm” and “Pastured Poultry Profits”. Inspired, Nathan decided he wanted to become a farmer in order to be a part of the solution rather than settle for the status quo. Fortunately for Nathan, he married a second-generation farmer from the Philippines who was receptive to the idea of starting a farm of their own. They’ve since become one of the Southeast’s premier designers/builders of hot climate chicken tractors. The couple currently raise Pastured Poultry for Chicken, Turkey, and Eggs. Taking part in the Salatin Semester has inspired Nathan to bring Sheep into the mix in the near future in order to meet the local demand for Lamb. Helpers are offered three healthy and delicious meals seven days a week. We offer a clean and warm bed in a bedroom (Sometimes shared) in the farm house. We have Satellite Internet and wifi (No streaming video please), TV with DVD/Blu-Ray Movies, but no cable television or local stations available. We are centrally located a short 1 hr drive away from both Charleston AND Columbia, SC. On your days off, we encourage you to get out and experience all that the surrounding area has to offer. We are eager to share everything we know about the business of producing and selling food through local markets. We are delighted to host Helpers with prior farm experience, but are also happy to host those who are new to the world of farming, provided they are eager to learn and ready to get a little dirty.

Helpers will perform a variety of tasks related to operating a Pastured Poultry Farm. These tasks include, but are not limited to, gathering eggs, washing eggs, weighing/packing eggs, moving field shelters, feeding/watering livestock, transporting livestock, brooder house chores, building/repairing farm structures & equipment, landscaping, pasture cultivation, farmers market sales, and MORE!!!

Please contact us via email with any questions you may have. Thanks!
