This will be our second year. We really enjoyed helpx last year and are looking forward to hosting again this year. We are two adults with a 17 year old sheep dog living in an old farmhouse on the remote Beara peninsula in the South West of Ireland. We are foodies and seaweed enthusiasts! I also do mosaics in my free time. It's about 4 miles to the local shop, post office and pub and 15 miles from the local town. Perfect if you like nature, walking, kayaking and quiet time. The local village, Allihies, is an old mining village with a couple of engine houses still standing and The Copper Mines Museum sits down the hill. A lively village during the summer months but quiet and peaceful the rest of the year. Traditional music sessions on Sunday nights in the local pub. 10 miles from Dzochen Beara Buddhist centre.
We are looking for help with a variety of different things; something for everyone :) building projects, compost toilet, help going off-grid, sheds, landscaping, stone walls to build, gardening and general maintenance. Ground to clear, plants to plant and windows to wash...
Looking for one to two week stays. Work 5 hours a day (work varies depending on the weather) five days a week. You will have weekends off.
We do not eat meat but have lots of lovely fresh fish, shellfish and seaweed bread.

Transport can be arranged from Castletownbere. We have just put a caravan beside the house with an amazing view so are now able to take couples. There is also a single room available in the house. Bedlinen and towels provided.

IMPORTANT Ireland can be wet and cold. Bring appropriate clothing and work can be physical so not recommended for those with bad backs!
