Our farm is located in mid coastal Maine, we run and operate a small organic, native, shade, and woodland plant nursery. We also raise organic vegetables, herbs and have many wonderful perennial beds for display. We raise pigs, meat birds, and a flock of layers. We also raise Blue Face Leicester sheep and use their wool for hand spun yarn, felting, and knitting…we sell our wares here at the nursery , at farmers markets, and craft venues. In addition, we sell sourdough bread, scones, and various baked goods. We provide our household with most of the food we eat, including meats, vegetables, cheeses, and baked products. We use many of the plants in the nursery, as well as locally foraged plants in making tincture, salves, and lotions. Our farm is in a wonderful rural community, located about 14 miles from a great coastal town with plenty of music, arts, food, and of course Maine’s wonderful coastline. We have an abundance of lakes, ponds, and streams nearby and great hiking trails .
We are looking for volunteers who are willing to help us with garden and farm projects, greenhouse work, helping with farm animals, and any tasks that may be needed on the farm or in the nursery. If you are interested in learning about organic growing, baking bread, spinning wool, felting or native plants, we may be a great place for you to consider. Our farm is looking for one or two volunteers, accommodations will be in the house (own very large room) or in small cabin. Meals will be provided, we do eat meat but can accommodate any vegetarian needs. Work schedule consists of 4-5 hours a day, tasks will vary, so lots of opportunity to learn different skills. We can provide some transportation into town and for cultural events. We are basically a very diversified farm and hoping to find folks who would appreciate this type of experience.
